We got a facebook message noting 2 bright orbs in the southern sky this morning. As of 8:30 they are still there. We are on St. Thomas and they are visible with the naked eye but good binoculars or a telescope is really necessary to get any decent definition. One is brighter than the other. Probably some sort of inflatable balloon but quite stationary and high. Fun to look at.

Probably weather balloons out of Antigua. This AM to the southeast of the Virgins the models show a rather wide layer of light and variable wind between 850 and 700mb.

I would have to agree- Project Loon. https://x.company/loon/ They looked just like the ones in the video. Just the inner, smaller balloon, without the big droopy cover. Also had something hanging closely below it. Must not have been much wind up there. They stayed very much in place for at least a couple of hours, maybe more. Didn't have to move the telescope much at all to stay on target.
