We have a pork butt which we put some rub on overnight, cooking away for dinner, along with baked beans later and some other stuff. Getting ready to get into the pool, so we can 'watch' the pork. What's everyone else have going?

It's a seafood day here - local Oysters and Littlenecks for starters, caught-yesterday local Striped Bass for a main, and Strawberry-Rhubarb pie with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.

Our grill is quiet.
We went to lunch at a favorite restaurant.
I had delicious trout. Husband had a capellini pasta with broccoli and sausage.

Tomorrow the grill gets lit--next door at friends.

Enjoy the holiday and remember why we are able to.

Filet mignon and probably again tomorrow. Really good parmesan encrusted halibut over grilled veggies with garlic sauce at Jay's last night. Ronalee had a filet there also.

Thank you. No better way to spend it with 4 weeks in paradise.

I ordered a few things from Goldbely, two Peter Luger porterhouse steaks (though they were cooked entirely in the oven), and a marionberry pie with vanilla bean ice cream. We only made one of the steaks and couldn't finish half. I made a fruit salad with strawberries and blackberries, sprinkled with basil and mint. Everything delicious. Leftovers tomorrow of everything we had today, though I will have to make more salad, that's almost gone.

Sounds like some delicious meals out there! Happy belated birthday, Scubaman!

Sounds like it may be a wet day for lots of people today in the Northeast.. and in SXM..

Unfortunately, the cover. It is rainy and cold here on Long Island. Not a great way to start the summer, or celebrate this special holiday. Anon Ellie

And it's not any better in western Ct. The BBQ grill is in the off position but the fireplace is burning nicely out of necessity. It's that cold kind of rain that goes right to the bones.. And a week and a half ago it was in the nineties here. Go figger........

Sorry for the rain there. EXTREMELY hot here, 98 degrees. We were in the pool for a while, but too hot even for that, so dinner will be cooked inside tonight.

Thank you. It was a wet and wild one all night last night. Even the locals said they had never experienced such severe thunder and lightning on the island before.
