A few observations and tips while on island after more than 35 years visiting SXM: Beachside Villas continues to be THE place to stay. If you like parrots, be sure to check out a new (two months old) attraction called Parotte Ville located at Bishop Hill Rd in Belvedere near the roundabout with the new McDonalds. $10 for a tour of the facility including a wide variety of medicinal plants, a SXM heritage museum plus walking among a variey of over 70 small parrots which will feed from a cup in your hand. The products, and friendly, courteous staff at AMA Jewelers on Front Street continue to make it a favorite. Check out the World's Smallest Bar at Juggies Place in the passageway between the Boardwalk and Front Street through the Big Wood bar on the boardwalk. Bernadine is back at Paradise View following thyroid surgery and is living is one of the converted shop facilities there. The second floor departure area in the airport is vastly improved and 1000% better than before.
stopped in at Dreams near Nettle Bay and it is everything Talkliners have been reporting - a delightful spot.
A few food tips: The grouper fingers at the yacht club are not to be missed. The grilled red snapper sandwich and the burgers at Pirates in Paradise, (An Ohio State Bar) on the boardwalk are very good. Our favorite lolo for ribs in Grand Case continues to be Cynthia's Talk of the Town.
