Long time lurker/long time VG-Guavaberry visitor. Talked with Shorn Benn of Mahogany. He and family survived, but lost everything. He was afraid they were going to die when the eye first came over. They have a room at Old Yard Inn they share with others. They will have to vacate in a couple days since they are bringing in construction workers. Shorn said destruction is all over and things are in chaos for people living in Handsome Bay area and elsewhere. He’s working on trying to get out. The family lost one of their passports as Irma tore apart their apartment. They go back to look for it whenever they get the chance since that will be key to their leaving. Sorry to post this grim information but felt those of you who have been fortunate enough to know Shorn would want to know.

Shorn is/was the friendliest guy we ever saw on Virgin Gorda. Every time we passed him on the road in his Mahogany taxi/rental vehicle he would be flashing his lights or honking his horn at us. What a wonderful guy! Feeling very sorry for him now.
