Saw their classified add. Anyone used this company before in the BVI? Wondering mainly about level of support if there is an issue, as well as overall experience.

I believe she deals mostly with Dream Yachts. They have policies similar to the Moorings. If the week is legitimately sold you should have no issues. The base is likely to not even know you are not a paid charter. Occasionally you may find a owner selling a week he can't contractually sell. This could cause issues. The best defense is the charter contract should have your name on it and come from the charter company. G

The website says that the boat is chartered officially in the owners name for the week. Would have to be careful about this for that reason, I suppose.

I have chartered with them several times over the past few years with no problems. It is pretty straight forward. You are using owner's time and the charter company is aware of what is going on.

The charter contract should still have your name on it.

Is this the main website to find owners time? Are there other resources to find owners selling their bare boat time?

See various TTOL sponsors of owners who charter directly. Click on "TTOL Sponsors" above or watch the banner ads.

drcabral, search for Mark Walsh of s/v Orion here on this website. He offers owners time which you book with him, but you get all the benefits of TMM as if you'd chartered directly with them. We've chartered owners time with him and I Highly recommend! (note: his original Orion was lost in hurricane Irma; however he has a brand new Orion arriving next fall for charter)
