I've made it but with less than perfect results. I used Meyer Lemons... and have since learned that was not ideal because they are too mild. Also, most recipes use vodka, but Everclear is supposed to be a better taste with the sugar and lemon combon, vodka is too mild(!!!).
Basic recipe is 8-10 lemons, rinds cut off (avoiding the white part) add to a liter of vodka (or everclear) and let sit for about a week. It will turn yellow! Remove peels and add simple syrup (2 parts sugar to 1 part water) to taste for your desired sweetness. Keep finished product in the freezer and serve icy cold. Enjoy

I use Everclear to make my Triple Sec, also use Vodka in the recipe but with different fruit. The Everclear with the higher octane seems to pull the flavor out of oranges and other fruit better than Vodka. It is not the proof you are wanting out of it, at least for me, it is the ability to pull flavor and not add the wrong flavor. Once you add all the other ingredients the proof comes down.
Not a Lemoncello fan so other than that can not comment on the recipe. Cheers, T

Ihave have been making this one for years with great results:
Limoncello
15 Lemons; zest only 1 bottle 100 proof Stoli vodka
Mix and let sit in a dark place in a GLASS container for 40 days
Remove from dark place
In a sauce pan mix 5 cups of water and 3.5 cups of sugar; bring to boil, cool and add to original batch. Add one more bottle on 100 proof Stoli and let sit on a dark place for another 40 days.
Strain though a coffee filter, bottle and freeze. ults:
