In case anyone was thinking of eating at Mary's Boon, I just received email from them and it said the restaurant is NOT open yet. They are just serving breakfast to guests.

We just stayed at Mary's Boon over the holidays and it was really great as usual. We booked for this April today and spoke to and told some nice changes are taking place in the Restaurant and Bar, updating furniture, beach chairs, kitchen equipment etc, so that's why they taking a bit longer. They will start with breakfast, lunch and dinner by next weekend for everyone, hotel guests and others. I understand that they have all their hotel room back open and redone other than just two rooms that have to be rebuilt and those will be done by Summer. About all of the furniture, AC's and interiors are new and looked really good. Excited to see what they have done to the restaurant and beach bar. We love Simpson Bay.

We are booked for late April as a change from late November. One of those two rooms no longer there was home to us for over 20 years. When we rebooked the plan was to have the room rebuilt in time. I have heard that the rebuilding is not a direct replacement but a growth into a 5 unit building. We will see.

That's what I was told also, not sure about April as materials and good labor are on short supply but if anyone can get it done they can. The one building they lost was their only and last wooden building. I heard 3 new beachfront studio's and 2 one bedrooms in a two story concrete building and roof. What new they built in the past few years did pretty well. The owner told us he's not building hotel rooms he's building hotel bunker's! Ha

We watched him rebuild after one of the previous big storms. Mark doesn’t take any chances or short cuts and builds a good product. I think it was the main building that houses the dining room that we watched him rebuild.

Respectfully foreversxm, that's NOT what management told me. They said for my March dates the restaurant would NOT be open. It and 2 other rooms estimated completion summer 2018.

Might have been a misunderstanding. I was just a Mary's Boon 2 weeks ago and the restaurant and bar were open and looking good for breakfast as you said. They were redoing the kitchen and other things and bringing in a new chef by mid Jan and opening to the public breakfast , lunch and dinner by the end of January. I know they will have their normal Super Bowl Party on the beach. I am sure with a full hotel and in high season they are anxious to get the restaurant fully open again. Not sure on the new rooms but I did also hear it would be a new building with 5 rooms and the owner said no big hurry on that but hope to be ready by early or mid summer. We are friends with one of the ladies in the office and get updated fairly often. The good news is that they already are 95% back to pre hurricane shape.

Good to know they are bringing in ‘new hands’ in the restaurant. We enjoyed their luncheon salads over the past few years, and in particular the lobster salad plates, but we went for dinner and found it was the same menu. The food was great for breakfast and lunch but to us, it was a bit of a disappointment for dinner. Love the setting and the young woman who usually waited on us but we were disappointed over our dinner there. Nothing bad but just the same things for lunch without any specials....... but still good.
Wish we were going to be there soon but afraid we have to still wait a while.
