Day 14 "Fun in the Sun"
The day commenced with a continental breakfast in the condo after which I took the time to post the party pictures and answered a few e-mails. I had just finished doing this when the internet went off and it is still not functioning. It is the first internet problem since our arrival so hopefully it will return soon.
We decided to make this a "Philipsburg day " since we were planning to meet some folks who were arriving by cruise ship at the Get Wet Bar this afternoon. We parked in the lot at Bobby's Marina and walked the boardwalk and did a bit of shopping before lunch. We decided to have lunch at the Boardwalk Terrace. This restaurant is right next to Sint Rose Plaza and was a good choice. I had the club sandwich platter which was delicious and David enjoyed the cheeseburger platter. We each had a carib and the total was $29 excluding a 20% service charge added on. This was the only negative aspect here! It looks like they are charging 15% SC and 5% TOT. Very naughty!!!! We did enjoy the meal there and the ambiance was great. We listened to a wonderful steel pan player there who was set up right outside the restaurant. It was so enjoyable we continued to sit and listen on a bench on the boardwalk after finishing our lunch.
At 2:30 P.M. we went to the Get Wet Bar and met up with our friends. Some other TTOL friends joined us and another mini party progressed! We finally got to meet Dan and Pam who also dropped by. We left there around 5: 00 P.M. just in time to do some shopping at Rima before they closed for the day.
Since the traffic is still a problem coming back from Philipsburg, we decided to come back on the French side via Marigot. We decided to take advantage of this route by stopping at Cito's Restaurant for dinner. Since you can park your car at the door, it was also a good choice as we had parcels in the car. We haven't heard much mention of Cito's here for awhile so we hoped everything was the same there.
We were met by Cito with his usual big smile and were told what was available today. There is no real menu at Cito's Place. Just good home style cooking in a local Caribbean atmosphere! I chose the garlic shrimp which was served with beans and rice, scalloped potatoes and vegetables and David chose the stewed lamb with the same sides. Both entres were wonderful and I have to say that my shrimp dish was the best shrimp I have ever had on the island! There was 12 large juicy shrimp ,perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. This restaurant is always worth as stop and if you like good local food, you will enjoy it. Cito's is like having your own personal chef at a discounted price. If you want something special for a particular evening, he recommends you drop by or call when he opens for lunch at 11:00 A.M. and tell him when you want and he will have it for you that evening for dinner. Two dinners with beer and water totalled $42 and we always leave a few dollars for a tip on the French side.
After dinner we continued our journey home via Marigot with no traffic problems and full tummies! That was a win win situation!
Around 10 P.M. we went to Maho and Casino Royale for some nightly entertainment and we both won again! Another perfect day in Paradise!
