Thanks to Elaine, who posted this info in another thread. Thought I would start a new, specific thread with this topic. Anyone who has any other specific ideas of ways our members can give back to the island and her people, please post here.

SXM PAWS is always looking for volunteers to help out in several different areas

-Monthly food drives at local supermarkets, standing outside and asking people to donate food for the dogs / cats we have in foster and those
we have spay/neutered and put back in the bush, as they were too feral to tame.
-Walk & Socialize rescue dogs at Animal Care Center in Cole Bay around 3.30 each day
-Help feed cats and dogs in and around Terre Basse, Cupecoy, Mullet Bay, Point Pirouette, Maho, Airport areas..Food will be provided
-Foster pups, kittens, dogs and cats.

If volunteering through an organization isn't a possibility, people can do small things on their own. I always try to leave the beach better than I found it, taking out not only my own trash but a bit more too. When walking, I sometimes bring along a bag and pick up any trash that I find along the way. Every little bit helps.
