I have been reading that the Gun Creek ferry will take us to Oil Nut Bay. Is this regularly scheduled or on an as needed basis?

It is regularly scheduled, but you need a reservation for dining to go to Oil Nut Bay. Email them in advance and they are very happy to have you.
