One wonders what the story is behind this?

The tragic story is, a family of four found dead, advanced decomposition and no signs of foul play.

So many condos are not equipped with Carbon Monoxide detectors. That's my guess.

An island state of mind
A few years ago, a family was poisoned in a villa on St. John. An extermination company had sprayed something toxic a few days before they got there.

Autopsy revealed toxic gas poisoning.

I'd like to be a jelly fish, cause jelly fish don't pay rent.

I don't know much about it, but I thought carbon monoxide was associated with heat??

We use hot water here.

It's usually heated with LP water heater.

So either LP or CO would be suspect.

Seems to be a little more updated story. Quote( Autopsies revealed they died from gas asphyxiation, but it’s unclear what type of gas killed them, the prosecutor’s office said.)

I just returned from Akumal where I have a condo and there was a lot of discussion about this. One theory is that the cause may have been water heater installed in a closet at that particular resort.

Our condo complex has all the water heaters on the roof.-- As a precaution because of gas stoves, we're all having CO2 detectors installed.

Not to put too fine a point on it but... Carbon MONoxide (CO) is different than Carbon DIoxide (CO2). Careful shopping.

I meant to write CO detectors.

See https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/investigation-confirms-propane-killed-family/ It was a propane leak due to a rusted water heater in the laundry room. The laundry room had not ventilation.
