Having another great time at BSV. We arrived Tuesday.

Best experience so far was dinner at Isola!
The food and service were the best!
We will definitely go back.

Worst experience was today at Rainbow, Grand Case.
We went for lunch and to relax on their beach where the waves were calm.

At lunch everyone seemed to be getting service but us.
We had to ask for plates, silverware, someone to take our order and the list goes on. I don't want to be told I'm bashing a restaurant, because it is well deserved.

We did tell the manager while paying, and he tried to blame it on a new bus girl.
He actually was the one who brought our coffees to us and one was half full.
There was no after dinner drink on our table like others.

They actually changed the tablecloth for the table near us, that I was kind enough to move my seat for, took their order and still no service.
It was ridiculous!! They were aware of the problem and it didn't change anything!
They served a desert with no utensils and sat people before getting some.

Well that is the first time I have written a bad review and the last time for Rainbow.

Sorry if this offends anyone or you can't understand--- I'm in a hurry.

I must compliment BSV on all their hard work. They have done a fantastic job and it is amazing!

It’s sounding more and more, based on reports written here fairly often, that Rainbow has a ‘preferred ‘ list and if you aren’t on it, you may very well receive less than stellar service. I know there are some who really like this spot but yours is at least the third time I’ve read a write-up to this effect and each one has been from people generally disinclined to complain. Too bad........

Saw some photos of BSV and their recent landscaping efforts. It looks beautiful. I can’t wait to see it up close and in the first person present. I don’t want to wish my spring and summer away but Fall can’t come soon enough this year. I know....bite my tongue!

Respectfully,

pat

Unfortunately I have read this a few times before and it is really a shame. You would think they would be so happy that people are patronizing their business at this time. We have even noticed in the past that some restaurants in Grand Case give you better service if you are French speaking. This is one of the reasons that many prefer to dine on the Dutch side! Just move on Terry and spend your money where it is appreciated and have a great trip.

Good to know it wasn't just us , but sad that it is that way.

We had a nice dinner at Vesna Taverna tonight.

Glad you're having a good time Terry, for the most part. Sorry we missed you at BSV this spring. I've heard similar stories as well about Rainbow. It's a shame as it's beautiful there. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Thanks for your first day trip report! I try to go to restaurants on off hours like between lunch and dinner when it is not busy.
I would not take it personally if service was bad. When restaurants get busy the regulars and repeat customers are given more attention.

Good reason not to go there. All customers should be treated the same at all times.

I hear they are charging for loungers now even if you eat or drink there. True?

How does one then get to be a regular or repeat customer if they are treated like this? Sadly, this seems to be common practice with this place. Enough excuses for this sorry place.

Friends who were recently on the island called for reservations. Spent some time on the beach and then asked for a table. They were told they had no table for them and they DO NOT take reservations?? Hum?? Many tables were spotted with "RESERVED" signs on them. My friends were told repeated times they would be seated and waited on. It never happened so as they were leaving they were yelled at and cussed at by the staff.

I would not spend one US dime in this place as they seem to have an aversion to people who do not speak their language.

Not directed at you, Scubaman. But first of all, lunchtime is lunchtime - try telling a tradesman it isn’t! That he should come back later when it’s not so busy? I don’t think so......😊😊

But beyond that personal opinion.......I get what Wendy’s saying - it’s a pretty common for regulars to be treated somewhat better at a place they frequent all the time. But the difference shouldn’t be so big that people that aren’t regulars are actually mistreated or offended by the lack of attention/service they receive.

And sadly, while I’ve never eaten there and can’t say from a personal experience, I know several of the people who have voiced these negative comments and they aren’t the type to complain unless there is real justification for it. For those who might actually be regulars, you probably won’t understand the complaints but if you were at their table you’d probably get it right away.

Respectfully,

pat

Man, I was disparaged here when I posted my negative experience at Rainbow a couple years ago. ((I think that person may even be in this thread! lol))

Anywho...We have been numerous times now, several times per trip over the past 4 or 5 years? And one time I can honestly say it was the best day and best meal we had that trip. Enjoyable day on the beach, doing shots with Jean the beach guy.

There was just that ONE time that I flipped over the treatment, and the owner knew it. He tried speaking to me after but the damage was done for the day.

So glad that I went back the following trip. He remembered me and went out of his way for us.

I will be there next month, and am hoping for a similar experience and not a negative one. You can bet that if it starts out badly for any reason I will take someone aside and straighten them out. wink

Yes, but not as much. It was $5 a seat.

Still doing the beach thing daily.
Water was too rough at Mullet, so we went to Kim Sha a couple of days. They are still advertising free chairs with lunch, but that has been changed.

The waves seem to be calming down, so we have also spent time at Mullet. It is just a beautiful beach.
Rosie was serving sandwiches yesterday, with no ships in, and the other end was closed. So peaceful!

We noticed someone drive into Mullet, fill their garbage pails, and leave!!!!!!
So, it's not entirely their fault there is so much garbage and full containers.

Drove through Orient on a very rainy day, so we may return. I want to pick up Love t-shirts on the way. We also drove througn Philipsburg that day. Quiet, but rainy and only 1 ship.

Glad you’re getting some Mullet time in. When you said Rosie is serving sandwiches does that mean no ribs? Wondering, too, are people dumping their garbage at Mullet? That would really irritate me.......

That was my question too....sandwiches?! She doesn't grill if there isn't a ship in? I know the employees and workers at The Towers like to go to her stand for lunch.

What kind of sandwiches does she make?

Rosies update.
It was just sandwiches on the day without ships.
She had the usual menu today. The ribs were good!
I don't think there are fries----- just rice and salad.

Yes Pat someone came to Mullet to drop off their garbage.
I guess they don't have garbage pickup and used the pails there.
As someone pointed out, it's better than throwing it on the beaches.....
I was just shocked that they would do that.
Better if they put it in the dumpster......

It's called The Spaghetti House.

We had the Burrata to start.
Rit had Gnocchi with gorgonzola and walnuts. I had penne with Salmon.
All excellent !!!!

Scuba,

It’s in Jordan Village at Cupecoy and if I remember correctly, across the street from Fat Tony’s and in the same building as Jules Bakery. Not a lot of atmosphere but very good food and at reasonable prices.

Yes, don't miss it! Next to Jules like Pat said.

And try the shakes at the colorful trailer next
to the market in Marigot! Best ever!

I may be wrong....but didn't I hear that the Spaghetti House that is being talked about is Enzo LaRosa's newest venture??? Glad to hear that it survived the storm, and is back.
