Depends on road works, if there are any. 4 pm - 6 pm Simpson Bay can back up depending on the direction you are going. And sometimes there is no traffic. It's a crap shoot.

The traffic going from Simpson Bay to Orient Beach will depend on the time of year, the day, the time of day and the route you take. We usually stay at the Simpson Bay resort and drive over every morning to Club O. There are two routes; one through Marigot and one through Philipsburg. On a weekday, we drive through Philipsburg, driving up and over the mountain through the Quartier-d'Orleans, and leave by 8:30 and can usually get to Orient Beach in about 30 to 40 minutes. On the weekends, we drive through Marigot, but still try to leave the Simpson Bay resort by 8:30. We always wanted to get to Club O so we could pick our chairs and location.
This was all based on pre Irma traffic so it might be less or more now.
