Saturday was our anniversary, and after some dithering, we decided to head out to the French side, to ultimately have lunch at Marigot in the Marina. We headed out over the Causeway through Marigot and made a pass down through Grand Case. We went through Grand Case around 11 AM, went straight through to come out by Bistrot Caraibes, so didn't go down by the lolos. From Bistrot on, there was nothing open at 11 AM, but that didn't really surprise me at all. The main road in Grand Case is really a PITA right now, as they are putting in some cables or electric lines or something and it is all torn up and bumpy. Hopefully they will finish with that pretty soon.

From there, we headed on over to Orient and took a bunch of pictures of Bikini and several other places along Orient. See the thread we posted the other day with pictures from there.

Back to Marigot, where we stopped first at the market. There was only one small Carnival ship in that day, and the market was about 1/5 the size it was when we were there last June, with mostly clothes merchants. Parking was had very close to the market.

I bought a couple of dresses and some jewelry, paying more than I would have, but feeling kind of sorry for them.

Mika, who does handpainted tiles from SXM, from whom we bought several tiles last year, was there, but I didn't find anything I wanted this time.

Then it was time for lunch! Missing lovely lunches from places like Dreams from last year, we decided to try Tropicana for our anniversary lunch, based on recommendations here. Parking again was very close and convenient. See the other thread here regarding our anniversary lunch.

After lunch, we stopped by Super U to pick up some cheap French wine and headed back 'home'.

We knew that we wouldn't want much for dinner after such a big lunch, so we decided to check out BeachKitten's suggestion of Pizza and CO DELIVERY. Their menu says they have free delivery to Maho and Cole Bay. When we called, they didn't seem to know where Beachside Villas was, so we had to give them a street address. So, if you decide to get food from them, make sure you know your street address. They are closed on Tuesday, and have pizza, mozzarella sticks, lasagna, chicken parm, and tiramisu.

We decided to try two different things, so ordered a small calzone

and a small meat lovers

Each fit on a dinner plate and the total cost was $18, so it was a decent deal. It wasn't the BEST pizza I have ever had, but having delivery, direct to the gate at Beachside Villas, was the bomb! I think we have found our traditional first night meal!! I got an actual menu, which we will scan and post when we get home.

Thus ends a very successful anniversary day!

Sunday was a totally lazy day. I didn't leave Beachside Villas and Eric travelled as far as Maho to get a couple of essentials. I had some croissants for breakfast. Sorry, no pictures! Lunch was some juicy burgers on the grill.

...and you have to have lots of cheese on that burger!!

Since we thought she was ST. BARTS, and not SABA, since Friday, we haven't seen Saba, but the view is still stunning..

We enjoyed the deck

and the view!

Dinner was grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and salad

Thus endeth another totally relaxed, wonderful day!!

I do realize that, but it's just not for me yet...traveling alone, I need to feel safe...even prior to the bitch Irma, I wasn't feeling that safe zone, so it's just not gonna happen yet...but I sure miss the island and all my island friends!!

Sounds like a wonderful trip so far. Can’t wait for our turn. BSV looks wonderful and I hope you two are relaxing and enjoying your time as I’m sure you are.

It was already a good read but I can see I really need to learn how to do the picture thing since they add so much to the story.

Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the next installments.πŸ‘πŸ‘

Respectfully,

pat

Most of the cheap French wine we buy is really good. They are lucky to get that and other spirits for the price they do. It hurts when we see the same. Champagne and such back home at ouch prices.

Really enjoying your reports! KEEP HAVING FUN IN THE SUN! Someday I hope to return to write my "Fun in the Sun" reports again but until that time reading other reports feeds the addiction.😊
