Since the end of trip timing is always tight (and we've experienced ferry delays/cancellations in the past), we are considering a private air charter from EIS to STT for our party of 6. Anyone have experience doing this on the return leg? Cost appears to be around $1500 total and we'd save more than that flying into STT vs EIS. We would take the ferry to get to Roadtown at the start of the trip when a delay is not so critical.

We did it when my brother and his family booked last minute and could only get flights to STT. We have neighbors who always do it that way. We used Fly BVI both ways. Going back there were just four of them, so it was their smallest plane. Worked beautifully. The only caveat is to allow enough time for Immigration, Customs, check-in and Security in St. Thomas.
Curious where you’re coming from. We’ll be making our fifth trip since Irma, and been able to get decent prices into EIS. Some trips we’ve used miles; others we’ve done separate flights through San Juan. Have you looked at Southwest/InterCaribbean? Or Seaborne.

Another alternative - too late now since you've already chartered your boat - there are lovely boats for charter on St Thomas. That would save you $1500 or the alternative stress of late/canceled ferries.
Life's short - sail more!

Moorings blog has recent story about private to/from EIS via SJU https://www.moorings.com/blog/bvi-10-day-charter-itinerary(I’m still thinking about six folks drinking four cases of champagne though!)
JPH I spent my money on booze, broads, and boats...the rest I wasted.

What’s the status of water taxis Re point beyond C&I check in? Are they allowed to take you to destinations beyond C&I?

Foxy's is a BVI company so can take you to your destination, it sounded like directly but you are paying a $45 Immigration fee. I think we will take the ferry upon arrival and then contract FOxy's to pick us up right from TMM and take us to Red Hook on the return.
