31 days until wheels up to Cancun with 2 of my old high school friends. All 3 have never been to Cancun. Staying at Grand Oasis Cancun.
Suggestions on excursions for 3 females in their mid-30's? We are looking for some fun things to do a couple days out of 7 day vacation.
Also...money. Should we rely on credit cards or would it be better to bring cash and exchange when we get there? For staying in all-inclusive, how much would one suggest to bring with us? We do want to go to some of the bars in the area, a little shopping & of course excursions.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Do not bring a bunch of dollars. Use the ATM. The Cambios make a profit selling you pesos. There are ATM's at the airport past customs. Notify your bank where you will be. Use your credit card for large purchases. If you do use a credit card stay with it and keep it in sight. At the clubs, pay for your drinks as you go. Learn the servers name and use it. That part of Mexico is very safe, as in any tourist area, be smart. There are all kinds of side trips; Maya Ruins, nature parks, zip lines, snorkeling, shopping, bar crawls, dance clubs, shows... It will be hot so prepare for that. Put on your sunscreen BEFORE leaving your hotel room for the beach (one hour) like it says on the tube. Many people get a vicious burn and spend an uncomfortable week. From The Grand Oasis the best way to get around the Hotel Zone is the bus. Get coins from your front desk. We live there in the winter. Feel free to PM with more specific questions.

Thanks for the advice! But...using the ATM will cause some serious charges from my bank, don't you think? Maybe I will stop by and ask them. I certainly don't want to show up with loads of cash and end up losing it. Good way to ruin a vacation.
And thank you for the advice on sunscreen. I am a burner. I have luckily been to BVI many times and successfully got thru the vacation without burning so hopefully that will be the same with Cancun.
I will PM you since there are some excursions my friends foudn and I am not sure if they are worth the $$. As a resident, maybe you could shed some light on them for me.
Thanks again!

Generally speaking the service charge from your bank will be less than the expense of buying pesos from a booth or on the street. Bank of America has an even agreement with Santandar, Scotiabank is in Mexico too. No charges at all with those two.
If you are only planning to spend a small amount ($100 - $300) who cares, you are on vacation! Dollars spend very well in Cancun.

Pesos are on sale! Exchange rate is 13.9 to a dollar. That's about 7 cents a peso. Great deal!
