How many other folks here have a recipe program? I just bought the program called Cook'n and, while I haven't done a lot with it yet, I think it will work extremely well for me. It has a lot of bells and whistles that I probably won't use, but I really like the way it has a one-touch download of recipes from popular websites, like Food Network, etc. My previous 'system' <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hammer.gif" alt="" /> was a three ring binder of printed recipes that I couldn't find anything in, so anything would have been an improvement. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

I don't have a program I use but keep my recipes in a binder (ugh) and in a file on my computer. Heaven help me if my pc crashes. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

My binder was OUT of control. That's why I got this program. The program allows you to print out a 'cookbook' if you like, and you can place the program on more than one computer, and there is an easy backup function, so you can back the file up to a CD also. Many of my recipes I got online to begin with, so it's incredibly easy to download them into my personal cookbook. The one thing I don't like about it is that you have to manually type in any recipes that are not online. (Unless there is a scanning function, but if so, I haven't found it yet.)

Do you mind telling us the cost of that program? Is it an Apple product or available for other platforms too (like Google)?

I never got around to putting my recipes in a binder. I have an old recipe box of my own, plus my mother's old recipe box. I find myself looking up the same recipes online time after time. So far, I've been lucky enough to find them all again, but my luck WILL run out one day (probably at the worst time, like the night before Thanksgiving!).

It was around $50, I think. Eric actually purchased it.

Not sure what you mean about Apple, versus Google. I got a PC version, although there is a Mac version. The SEARCH feature is built into the program. Here is a link to their website.

I love pinterest, no program to buy, but if you hit "like" it saves it for you. So many good recipes and ideas on the site.

I'm so used to mobile versions now that I was wondering if that's what you meant. PC version makes more sense. OK, may look into it, although I'm trying to convince myself that I should be doing more cloud storage now. I am tied to my desktop. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> I know at one place it talked about downloading a grocery list to your phone, so I know it does have some mobile features.

I wanted something on my own computer, that I could type in recipes that I have had for a while, etc.

I've had Master Cook for a while, probably ten years or so <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />. I do like it, because you can search recipes for ingredients if you're trying to decide what to cook with what you have on hand. Importing recipes is pretty easy too, and there's a site where someone has converted tens of thousands of recipes to Master Cook format that you can download free.

That said, I find I'm using Pinterest more and more. One problem I have found with Pinterest, though, is that blogs can go away, and links no longer work, so saving the recipes to a cookbook program does have its advantages.

Let us know how you like it. I have done 3 cookbooks on Tastebook which also will hold all your recipes. Besides the binders, cookbooks, and recipe file...I too need to organize in ONE place.

For sure, links OFTEN get broken, so saving things on your own computer has a lot of advantages. Plus I know that is the particular recipe that I made, and I can edit the recipe in Cook'n with my notes or changes, etc. I have no interest in Cook'n, other than just having purchased it, but was just interested in what other people do with their recipes.

I just made a folder with subfolders on my computer. I scanned every recipe from my two recipe boxes, clipped from mags. Etc. And when I find something on the Internet, I just print it to a PDF (you can always edit a PDF with the typewriter tool in Adobe.) and save it to a folder in my recipes file. I can then access if I have no Internet. Can give it to my kids on a thumb drive. Email easily to friends. It just takes time to scan them all. I do have a Snap Scan that is great for this type of project.
I have tried Pinterest, but being on the boat, I don't always have Internet.
If I find a recipe I really like, I print it to my file. Can't lose it that way.
I have folders for meals ( sub folders of beef, chix, Italian, seafood, eggs, vegs, etc.) and one for baking (cakes, cookies, fruits, pies, etc)
It works great for me. I love the "cloud", but I would only use it for backup of what I have on my own computers.

I'm still at the stage where I search on the net a LOT for recipes, so this one works great for that. Everyone is different. Since I just got this one, I was curious as to what other people do.
