For sure. I wonder what his thoughts are on the French side recovery? What a circus.

Pretty insightful article. It would appear that the government officials in Sint Maarten are the problem. I suppose the kickback to them wasn't enough so they are delaying the project?

I have no idea what the issue is, but delays in repairing the airport can only hurt the island short term AND long term.

In reading the article it sounds as though sufficient funds have been allocated to do the job so I don’t understand the island’s delay in agreeing to the over-sight, unless the island government just doesn’t want to have someone looking over their shoulders in an official and accountable way. It really is essential to both sides of the island’s recovery the airport is back to normal again and the continued delay seems very telling.
Respectfully,
pat

Pretty insightful article. It would appear that the government officials in Sint Maarten are the problem. I suppose the kickback to them wasn't enough so they are delaying the project? Exactly. Not much different than the Club O disaster. One group of people obstructing progress to achieve thier own end or profit to the detriment of the greater good.

Happy to see progress is being made. Wonder if the previous plans for the US to have Customs and Immigration in place will be incorporated in the rebuild.
