Does anyone know if you can check into the US on a charter boat via the ROAM app? We like to spend time around St John when we charter but leaving the BVI's for a few days and having to go all the way to Cruz Bay to check on is time consuming. I was wondering if you can check into the US via the ROAM app when on a charter boat from the BVI'S? Or if chartering out of St Thomas can you check back into the US on a US based charter boat on the app?

We used the ROAM app in February. The boat needs a customs sticker. We submitted via the app once we reached US waters. We then circled around for half hour to forty five minutes until we were approved. Easy Peasy.

We have a sticker on our boat Island Fun. As long as your boat has a sticker and you know the number, you can use ROaM We’re be back down in June and will check in to USVI using ROAM

Likely that vast majority of BVI boats do not. The CYOA boats all have one.

Has the requirement changed recently with respect to the customs sticker and the USVI. The USVI had previously been exempt from the customs sticker requirement when checking in as it was considered a User Fee. However at the time the customs sticker was required for checking into the Spanish Virgin Islands (and of course US mainland). This was prior to the ROAM app (program) existing. Is it the ROAM app that drives the requirement for the customs sticker or is now required for all vessels over 30' checking into the USVI?

It is not a requirement to have a customs sticker to check in to the USVI. You have to have one for the ROAM app. If you don't have a customs sticker you have to show up at C&I in person. Everyone checking in has to show up.
