Sunny day after several somewhat iffy days. Jules this morning for tuna, crab, egg baguettes and sandwiches. Careffour express for a few items which was the first time I have ever shopped there. Bright and clean as I noticed several times now that the Careffour at Cupecoy has a very bad smell in that store. Pool and sunning all day and doing nothing then off to Anguilla for 4 days tomorrow. First time also encountered very few Mossie attacks, possibly because of the lack of rain and the breezes keeping them at bay.

So, where is dinner this evening?? After all the lovely places you have been eating, I'm sure it will be fabulous! Thanks for taking us along on your journey. And, you don't have to stop posting, just because you're going to AXA!! Post in the General Caribbean forum please, but looking forward to hearing about your stay there also!

Hope you visit Jacques and Alain in Anguilla!
Yes please let us know how it’s going there. Lots of strife regarding white privilege at the moment unfortunately.

Getting a chef in tonight Carol and he will make my wife either pumpkin, cauliflower or creamy pea soup and a few Vegs like potato gratin and ratatouille. For Moi, the little cochon that I am, escargot in puff pastry with lobster bisque sauce, followed by Lobster Thermidor plus all the trimmings and desert undecided between yet another soufflé or Mille-Feuille.
Beach Kitten... Jacques won’t make wife a soup so at Blanchard’s where we first went when they opened in 94 for our first night but can’t make up my mind between Sharkies E’s Oven and a few others, can go off board with this if you have some suggestions. Will give a report later as Carol requested but not on this board. Also “White Privilege?” Are you referring to the Anguillians resenting non whites? In the early days of the late 70’s and in many Caribbean places we visited, noticed what can only be discovered as rudeness plus very awkward service even to experience people spitting at us in St Lucia but put it down to several aspects, some has changed some still(particularly in the service industry) hasn’t but usually the locals come out of their shell with good manners and a genuine interest in their well being. We are actually going to see someone who looked after us in Anguilla several times in different hotels and haven’t seen her for 35 years. She married the local Vicar but divorced him and has a few god fearing stories to tell us........

By the way the mussels I had yesterday at Tropicana with a mushroom cream sauce were just out of this world and Carol I nearly cried when I couldn’t resist and weighed myself in a Pharmacy yesterday. 14lbs iin under two weeks!!!!!! And that includes running and swimming 6-8 miles a day whilst here.......😭

bran--would be interested to hear who is doing your meal and how it turns out. I contacted Fabulous Feasts, and they didn't seem too interested with serving only two people..
Yikes, regarding the weight gain! Hopefully at least the pharmacy scale weighs heavier than your one at home!!
Enjoy your time in Anguilla.

It’s a business friend of mine who owns in St. Bart’s and his Yacht is docked at Cupecoy awaiting repairs or something and he has offered me his private French chef for the night. I jumped on his offer so let’s hope it’s good, if anything will be different.
Was originally going to look into Romain stmartinprivatechef@yahoo.fr but the above came up funnily enough after I mentioned to my friend what I was planning. He told me to save my money as he owes me one. Ok I said, now wondering how many bottles of champagne I can get away with and never had more than a 2 lb 🦞. Does a 10lber exist🤪

Your meal tonight sounds outstanding! Hope you enjoy it. I realize you have been to Anguilla before but if you have time, try the Four Seasons Sunset Lounge for drinks prior to sunset. It's gorgeous. If you have not dined at Veya's, give it a try. There are so many outstanding restaurant in Anguilla, there is never enough time. Best restaurant for cheese burgers and a Rum Punch is the Ferryboat Inn. (Best in the Caribbean IMO) and wing night is Fridays, also great. Have fun In Anguilla.
