Anyone have a good gear list that you use for your crew?
We are doing a week in late July/early Aug...4 single dudes.

I camp and backpack with these guys so they are pretty good at showing up properly equipped but since two of them have never been on a bareboat-charter before, I want to provide them some guidance regarding what to bring aboard.

Appreciate any feedback you folks might have.....

Thanks,

Nate

Okay....so maybe my request was lame.

How about this: If you could only bring 5 things on a trip to the BVI...what would you bring? (Let's assume passports are universal and not to be on the list)

I could get by without most of the stuff we bring, but our underwater video camera, DSLR camera and dive gear are things we make a lot of use of and something we always bring.

Sunscreen, bathing suit, cover up (not for the guys), money, sunglasses hat.

Here is what not to bring.

Weapons of any kind, hard suitcases, dress clothes, a bad attitude, drugs.

Here is some guidance that I received when I was the greenhorn.
- extra pair of sunglasses
- flipflops / watershoes
- swimsuits (7 days = 4ish)
- sunscreen (1 spray can = 2days) extra available anywhere
- t-shirts & going out shirts - again extras available
- underwater camera (most will now take HD video)

Rita's last comment and extra deep breaths. (Island time is the same as sailing - all in good time) Sometimes the hardest thing to do is leave normal life behind.

Oh, and the last thing is extra money. You have come a long way to let a few extra dollars stop a good time.

Relax and have a great time.

Fair winds, Jim

A few years back some of us regulars put together a TTOL newbie sailing guide, pointed at first-timers that will be joining more experienced sailors.

I looked for it, but can't seem to find it.
Mods - any ideas?

Hi

I kept a copy of the 3 lists and can send them to anybody (as a PDF file) if wanted. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> It was from “January 11, 2009 from BVI People Talk from BillH
RE: Pre-Charter and Charter Boat Checklists
Here are three documents submitted by members in one huge copy and paste.”

Peace

Bill sent me his documents also and I had compiled them into my own word document table format for each useage on our own boat to keep us organized. I have several lists developed for use on our boat by our partner group and would be happy to share by email- PM me if interested.
