Does anyone have any experience renting a houseboat on Lake Mead? We are thinking of adding it onto the end of a Grand Canyon /Zion/Bryce vacation this fall. Thanks

I've never done this myself but have a friend that has a time share on a houseboat there and they love it. They use their jet skis and power boat to tool around the lake and enjoy the amenities of the houseboat. I also heard the story of the dad and the son deciding to sleep up on the top deck but they came in because bats were swooping down toward them and it freaked them out!

I've never been but asked hubby about it (he's been several times as a teenager) and he mostly remembers it being hot, like 85 at night. Not sure what time of year you're planning on going but if during the summer months I'd want AC on that houseboat for sleeping comfortably. Other than that he says it was fun swimming etc but when I asked him if we should may be plan a trip he said no (he likes to fish now and I guess Mead is not really a fishing lake?)

Thank you both for your responses. We'll post some feedback if we do this.

Personally I would go to Lake Powell as it is much more scenic. Do check on water levels before booking.
