We are looking into a nude cruise and have seen bare necessities and some lifestyle cruises by a couple companies. My husband and i prefer the boats/ itineraries of the lifestyle cruises but we are not into the lifestyle. My question is if we avoid certain parts of the boat will it essentially be the same as a nude cruise. I hope the answer is yes and i tell him to book. Wishing bn had more frequent Caribbean sailings. Any help is appreciated.

Never been on a lifestyle cruise.
Have been on a BN cruise.
My research found that on lifestyle cruises nudity was limited to certain areas of the ship, not so for BN cruises. Don't recall seeing any CO excursions listed for lifestyle cruises. Might want to dig a little deeper into the details before booking either one. Wrong choice could lead to an uncomfortable cruise.

Never been on a lifestyle cruise myself either. I think I personally wouldn't want to book it, as I would be AFRAID something uncomfortable would happen and it wouldn't be relaxing if I was stressing about that.

I was hoping to hear better news.......thinking royal Caribbean would keep the common /dining areas relatively tame and the pool/sun decks being a slightly racier nude experience. I guess my biggest worry as I think about it is a lot of clothed men in the pool areas. I guess I assumed most would be nudists at the pool. Hubby not going to want be nude around that. Still looking for other views to allay our fears. As I said the bn cruises are always at inopportune times for us.

I personally would stay away from it. Sex and hooking up after hours are common themes aboard. The whole scene in my opinion, gives Naturism a very dark view. Those folks are looking for exactly what it states. "Lifestyle (swingers etc.) I have heard of a few horror stories of happy marriages ending . We met a few last Nov at Club O while the RCL Freedom was in port and let me tell you they are not discreet to be around. Do some research and find out what a play room is on board. My wife and I were astonished to hear of it and what it entails. I told the woman that we had met that day it is wanton adultry. To each there own. I agree Carol, we would be terribly uncomfortable

we've had the same thoughts that it would be nice to have some summer BN itineraries from North American ports. We can't get away during the school year. And we really don't want to go to the med/fiji for a nude cruise. Early August would be great BN.

We're going to play it by ear and if the itinerary and timing is right, try it. I think we can avoid the play rooms and hot tubs/pools at night. Heck we've seen people going at it on a well lit promenade deck bench on Norwegian Dawn ... Nobody reacted to the action and security didn't do a thing while we strolled by
We certainly won't partake and will be on alert as we are at our best aanr resorts including cypress and orient when new couples invite us to their accommodations for dinner and/or a drink.........that's happened too. No biggie, we just smile and say NO and keep the conversation going until we decide to make our exit

Wish us luck, we just booked November 2013 Freedom f the Seas couples cruise. Hopefully we can enjoy ourselves. If worse comes to worse well just hangout nude on the balcony, but were hoping it is like Caliente where we will not be pounced on. Although hubby is really hot so I'll have to get him a funny hat or haircut to keep the swinger girls away.

We have encountered some swinging couples at club o. Never pressured but in conversation mentioned and certain couples spend sometime together and we weren't invited after it was known we were not. Still friendly, just not invited to chalet. We've seen some saucy dancing at papas at late night where the man was clearly aroused we heard a couple in action on a picnic table. Not to mention dark beach chair action. Not swinging. Just takin there love beyond the aanr norm. I'm not saying it was a lot. Just not zero

I understand that a " lifestyle" cruise invaded the Club O beach in November and that the behavior of some was not what Club O guests accept as the norm.

Sadly, that's the kind of behavior that could give first timers to Papagayo, or Club O, a very wrong impression. Last year we met a couple who introduced themselves as swingers and they were surprised that there were kids at Club O.

we did this cruise last year and we enjoyed it. We are nudists but open to seeing the world. You can definitely avoid the swinging areas and enjoy the trip without any discomfort. Or you can walk through just to see what others will do.

Going on our first BN cruise in Feb 2014 (Holland America). Several of our White Tail Resort (Ivor, VA) friends have been on a number of c/o cruises and none have shared being uncomfortable about being with lifestylers on board. We've been nudists since the 70's and have been to several resorts in the states, O'Club (just got back yesterday), Hidden Beach in Mexico and in Gaeta, Italy. We simply smile and say "No Thanks". We do know lifestylers and overlook their preference and they don't cross the line--they are truly great people. As we see it, the world is filled with all sorts of different people so it's never boring. We found our best friends are nudists--there's no armor to hide behind (no puns intended). You all look forward to having a great time and fill us in on your adventures!!

We have done both bn and lifestyle cruises and we are nudists but not lifestyles. We didn't have any lifestyle problems staying out of playrooms. The only downside was less nudity on the lifestyle boats once away from the pools. Royal Caribbean is a frequent line for lifestyle and way better than carnival.

there are all kinds on textile cruises and we have been on sing and nude cruises. The potential is high for getting hit on during a swing cruise --that's is why they have them -- high potential......but you can avoid the lounges and play areas and generally have a high adult vibe nude vacation

We booked the November 10, 2013 lifestyle cruise thinking it was a clothing optional one. It was to late to cancel, we booked 6 days after refunds were possible. We are not into the lifestyle and have zero interest. I think a polite "no" if approached and early to bed (by ourselves!) will make it tolerable.

You are paying a premium for a cruise that will not provide the level of nudity you might desire. You will be modifying your behavior to avoid other "behavior". Does not seem like a fun relaxing time to me. Have you considered selling your tickets on the secondary market?

My husband and I have been on 4 lifestyle cruises. We will be going again on the Nov cruise you are wondering about. We are not swingers. In fact, many of the people we met at dinner and by the pool on previous cruises were not swingers either. They were just interested in a cruise with no children that allowed them to sunbathe nude and relax. We are an attractive couple in our 40's, and we have never been approached for companionship. The purpose of having "play" rooms on the ship is for people to meet others that also want attention. We saw less public affection on these cruises then we have on other cruises. They do a good job of designating areas for lifestyle stuff to take place so that the cruise is relaxing and comfortable for everyone. We enjoy the cruises, and were told by our travel agent that they sell 30%+ of the rooms to non-swinger couples. From what we have seen, I would say that percentage is even higher. Other than a few specialty classes, nudity allowed at the pool, and the rooms they open at night for meeting up, the only noticable difference from a regular cruise was that there were no children. Never saw people with more than a bathing suit on near the pool. No inappropriate talk at the dinner table. No problems at all. No need to turn in early or stay on the balcony. We met great people that we see every year we go. We always have a great time. Last Nov we noticed that the avg age of the guests were between 50-65 yrs old. Not the 20-30 yr old sex starved people we had pictured before we got there. Hope you have a great time! See you there!

We went on this cruise last year and are going again this year. The parties and theme nights were a blast. Nudity allowed on pool deck, hallways and playrooms only. Sex only allowed in rooms, and designated areas. There was absolutely no pressure to participate in the lifestyle. No need to worry, you will have a great time.

We went also, for non swingers you will be fine. It just has a hotter and saucier feel and sometimes we want that but can't have it at our AANR places. We like to dance and hug at/in the pool and hot tub. Usually its just couples and it has a drive in movie feel with your friends making out in the back seat. Now if crowds go crazy together and full activities we excuse ourselves and we hit somewhere else on the ship.....pretty rare unless you are hunting for it or going to the designated rooms. For non-partakers, it is fun to people watch. Enjoy!

We're looking forward to you sharing your report with all of us. Our experience is that Swinger type events are tons of erotic fun with never any pressure to play with other people. We've also found that not all nudist resorts are vanilla. The clothing optional Laguna del Sol near Sacramento has some very hot events at dances. Naked Man, held there in the summer, is an erotic blast.

You shouldn't have to book a lifestyle cruise if you want to be nude with no children present.

You shouldn't have to book a lifestyle cruise if you want to be nude with no children present. You don't as you proved on the BNTT trip aboard the Freedom. They made the choice based on other factors.

Suzanne Schell, Laguna del Sol owner here. I'm not sure what you are referring to as "hot events at dances" or Naked Man being "erotic fun". No overt sexuality is ever promoted or condoned at Laguna del Sol. Appropriate behavior boundaries are occasionally tested at dances and and quickly restored via security and bar staff. Regarding "Naked Man", this year was the 2nd annual event and a huge success. There were about 50 theme "camps" throughout the resort and nothing erotic comes to mind. Of course, everyone has different ideas on that. Maybe the 100+ person tutu parade through the main pool area or the crazy costumed bike parade had a different effect on the poster than the silly fun that most people experienced. There were parades, there was art, there was a light show, complete with fire dancers. There was lots of food and drink giveaways at the camps. Next year it will probably be our biggest event ever, and as always, will be open to people of all ages. Laguna del Sol is a proud, 100% AANR club and resort since 1961 and always strives to maintain a wholesome, comfortable atmosphere for all.

We went on the November 10th 2013 Freedom of the Seas Lifestyle cruise.
We are not lifestylers, but wanted an adult cruise with optional nude sunbathing.
Have to say it was great. Once they hand you over to the cruiseline everything is very much the same for boarding, etc with Royal Caribbean.
We didn't see anything publicly lewd the entire time. And we were out late every night. That was the big difference, people stayed up late and partied whereas a normal cruise goes to sleep at midnight. It was like fantasea fest only tamer as people were more laid back. Lot of lingerie which hubby and I enjoy.
My husband and I did peek into the special rooms and it was what you might expect. We didn't stay but it did give us the idea to hit the bed early.
We met lots of people, but no one was over pushy, and once we said we weren't into the lifestyle sometimes the conversation changed as some folks probably didn't want to waste their valuable cruise time barking up the wrong tree --if you know what I mean.
People were super friendly like any nudist resort.
We would do it again if the right itinerary popped up at the right time of year.

Thanks for the info, been worried as we are not into the lifestyle but wanted the party atmosphere and no kids and added bonus of being able to go nude at the pools. We just booked this and I'm excited about the ship more than anything! Never been on a RC cruise before. We are nudists and have been on 10 bare neccessities cruises and love them. First time on a Lifestyle cruise and I'll know we are probably a bit older (68 and 60 but we are young at heart and you put a lot of our fears to rest Philly n Bill

We have done the couples cruises in 2013 from Port Canaveral, Tampa and Istanbul. Nudity is allowed around the pool and on a specified sun deck. Unlike a strictly "nude cruise" the crowd runs the range from folks who never take off their clothes in public to full swap swingers. The thing is, everyone gets along just fine. If you're not "in the lifestyle", just stay out of the party rooms. In other words, if you want a nude cruise and the schedule works for you, don't worry about the "lifestyle" element. On the other hand, you and your significant other may just find a new spark...seen that happen more than once. The company that charters these ships is very vigilant about keeping any public "activity" confined to the appointed areas, and if you don't want to go there, just don't go there. On the other hand, if you're a traditional, tree-hugging, back to nature AANR nudist, you may not enjoy the crowd of folks truly having a good time without giving a hoot what you think is "appropriate". Or, you might take a peek in the play room with your sweetie...no one will tell the folks back at the club.

Sorry so long to report, but last November's Royal Caribbean Swingers cruise was great for us non-swinging nudists. Fun and friendly bunch of people, not unlike our AANR resort visits. Nobody pushy and it was fun people watching. Not much opportunity to be nude save traveling to/from cabin and the pools. Saw a little extracurricular activity that sounds like the descriptions I've read about Hedo. We did visit the playrooms but only played as a couple alone. Quite exhilarating experience. Recommend it for open minded nudists who can separate the two worlds. Avoid the playrooms and no big deal at all. Fun cruise.

Bare Necessities' cruises are different. You have the freedom to go about the entire boat nude with only 3 exceptions: 1) on the ship while the ship is in port 2) in the main dining room or specialty dining rooms where you are served by a waiter. Casual attire is perfectly fine. 3) at the Captain's reception. Otherwise, you have the freedom to walk out of your cabin wearing nothin' but a smile... that's us! www.cruisenude.comNaturally, The Staff at Bare Necessities

Dear BN staff:
I sure like the BN nude concept, unfortunately the only affordable BN cruise is the annual February big nude boat which does not fit our work schedules. The New Years, Summer and Other Small Boat Cruises to Europe, Fiji, Etc are way to expensive for the average wannabe nude cruiser.
It would be nice to see an affordable, large ship winter break or summer Caribbean Offering, even if it were a 4 or 5 day cruise out of Miami/FLL.
The spring and fall couples cruises, while not pure nudist ideal, to go halfway at a convenient time and affordable price point.

we are curious but hesitant on both nude and or singers cruises. We are wondering about nude overload on the nude cruise and sex overload on the swingers cruise although we love to sunbather in the nude and love to cruise. Being from the UK, we may try one of the Mediterranean offerings of either type for starters to get over our inhibitions. Both sound fun.

If you're ugly or old you won't have tons of trouble on the swingers cruise if you can withstand overt sexual behaviour. But because we are young and my wife is smokin hot we regretted going on the couples cruise. But not that being hit on isn't bad (one drunk fool was especially annoying and not discreet with a square haircut looked like Beavis--yes my wife will now forever call most swingers perverts because of him), and the drag queen they had for entertainment had a couple (swapped) do a real live 69 on stage during bingo. They had their tongue/mouth on each others genitals for a split second. Then lots of grabbing, women sun screening a [censored] in front of everyone. On excursion whipped cream liking nipples and a [censored]. One woman have her vulva massaged at the dance club right in the middle of the main floor.
So couples cruise is false advertisement. They actually do allow and encourage overt sexual behaviour. I wouldn't recommend them in the slightest. We will be going on bare necessities cruises only from now on.

Lol how else would one review the cruise? This cruise charter makes the lifestyle look like a true perversion, which in all likelihood is, but that's not the discussion at hand. I should post the email thread I had with Bob Hannagan. He or a staff cover up and condone, and finally contradict. He asked a nudist (me) regarding the fairness of an uncovered boob and an uncovered mans chest? But definitely don't be a fool and go on this as a fun nudist adventure. For one there's poor nude participation. Nude starvation if anything (no nude overload, that's for sure). Maybe 1/4 to 1/3rd if you're lucky. Plus, 1/3 to a half of the swingers we ran in to thought it funny to "corrupt us", as if they're knowingly corrupted? Well they can be their own judge I guess. I've no interest in that role.
Bottom line: If you have no lifestyle interest and are attractive don't go on this couples cruise charter. But beware: all are welcome to the swinger's lifestyle, but you'll only be actively sought out if you're attractive. If you are a classy lifestyle don't go to any couples cruise sponsored entertainer's events. They claim to have exemption from the code of conduct and work with Bob to cover up public sex acts that are supposedly "forbidden" and grounds for being kicked off in the name of getting events "going".

The couples cruise may 3-10 from LA on celebrity century. Which else? It's not like they run them weekly.

Please don't take offense but I've read this post about six times and I still have no idea what it means. I was hoping the "Bottom Line" would clear up the first paragraph for me but, alas, no luck.

Translation: "I am someone who is a bit full of myself, but sadly didn't do very well in grammar or creative writing classes. I went on a advertised "lifestyle" cruise and was shocked that there was some overt sexual activity."
