18 is a good compromise as the standard cut off age....16 is too low, 21 is totally unrealistic. Better that as parents you give your kids the option of having wine or beer at home under your guidance. Yes they will still do stuff behind your back but at least they will have learned to drink responsibly or at least drink more responsibly than our generation did in the 60’ and 70’s.

Totally agree.
16 a bit too low.
21 too high.

And I did snipe my first drinks of my parents.
Was 14 or 15 and it was jack daniels and orange soda.
Orange soda was to disguise in case someone came downstairs.
