A group of friends and I are looking at Sailboat chartering in Greece. We would like to visit the Greek Isles we hear about so much. The one company with whom I am familiar is the Moorings. They have Greece bases in Athens Zea and Corfu.

I have two simple questions. First, which base is the best to sail into the Greek islands we all hear about so much? Second question: We are not necessarily restricted to the Moorings; although it is a safe, known company. Any charter company suggestions other than the Moorings?

Cannot help with any bareboat recommendations, but we did a M/S vacation in the Greek Islands many moons ago. It still rates as one of the best two weeks ever!
I will see if I can stir up any sailors to respond.

Been researching a sail trip to Greece for next year. There are a bunch or charter companies that you can go with. Moorings and sunsail will leave out of Corfu (access to northern Ionian islands) and Athens (access to Saronic, Argolic gulfs and Cyclades). You should also check out Dream Yacht charters. I have used them twice in Genada and have booked a charter in BVI and they are good/as good as moorings. They also have a lot more bases including Corfu, Lefkas and Prevesa in Ionian. They also have a base in Lavrion Greece near Athens which is 40 mins from the Athens airport and easy access to Cyclades. They also have bases in Cylades and the Dodecanese islands, northern sporades as well.

A couple of sites that could help your research

cruiser's forum Mediterranean forum search key word greece, ionion, cyclades, etc - https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f17/

Sailing issues has a lot of information on sailingand chartering in greece and details on the regions and islands - https://www.sailingissues.com/greek.html

good luck!

I too am looking to go to Greece and currently trying to research a charter company that is reliable. I'm interested in going this August but the price point may be too high. The lowest quote from Dream Yacht is $9 618,00 for & days on a Helia 44 with A/C .

I may try to go off the beaten path and use Saileo or Boatbookings. Guess it may be a higher risk/lower-cost option or eliminate the false security one has with a larger company.

If others know of other options to charter at a decent cost please share!!
