I think there could be money made with small jewelery store in orient village. Cruise people use beach & can't get to Philipsburg same day & evening hours for people coming for dinner. Right? That area big enough to support this now.

Cruise people start out in Philipsburg. If they're interested in jewelry shopping, they won't go to Orient. Just my opinion.

We stay on French side & I dislike the flavour in Philipsburg now. I would buy in village maybe others staying there?

If a jewelry store were opened in Orient Village, perhaps the word would get out about it on cruise ships and instead of heading to Philipsburg and all the hawkers, people would head to Orient Beach to buy their jewelry and take a dip in the ocean at the same time. I'm personally not in favor of it since it would bring more traffic to Orient, but my wife wouldn't have to make me drive her to Philipsburg for jewelry when we stay in Orient Village every year.

I doubt if people would venture to orient to buy expensive jewelry and then go to the beach for a swim. Unless they are going to wear it they would risk having it stolen while swimming.

It's an interesting question, but I don't remember any high end jewelry stores ever even in Grand Case, let alone Orient Village. Are there even any souvenir shops in OV? Petit Casino sells some souvenir rum, but junk like coffee cups/postcards/etc?

I have to believe, IF the market was there you would see multiple jewelry stores.

I've never found any souvenir's in OV. Actually tried to find some beach towels last year for a boat excursion and couldn't. Our Villa renter gave us some.
