Not going to book anything yet, but looked to see what flights are currently showing toward the end of the year. Prices are about double what we would usually expect to pay. That's not going to help tourism!

I was checking on flights to VG in September - and you can get a flight for $650 return via YYZ to ATL to STT which is not bad - we usually pay $800

We booked in Oct 2019 for June 2020 flight to IAD to STT on UA.

Canceled the June flights and got 100% vouchers.

Rebooked same flights for Jan 2021 and we saved about 30%.

Will have to see how this evolves. Right now Taddy Bay is closed. No one is being allowed in, but the government has said they will only allow people to come in through Beef Island.

Just booked with Delta for our November trip. Prices were about as low as they get out of our regional airport and with the "no change fee" policy, there's really nothing to loose.

Rebecca, where were you leaving from and flying to? We are also in Tennessee, Memphis. I looked from there to BVI, and the cheapest flights were over $600/ one way.

We are on the opposite end of the state in Kingsport. Tricities to ATL to STT. Flights were over $600 but that’s the norm flying out of TRI. Knoxville and Asheville were a little less but not enough to justify the drive and airport parking. I purchased 1 of our 4 tickets using SkyMiles and the SkyMiles price was lower than usual. We’ve been visiting St John for 22 years. Fares have definitely increased since Irma.

Y'all had me curious. I fly out of Charlotte and looked at 11/14 to 11/21 (our hopeful dates). Normally the direct CLT-SST is around $650 per. There are obviously fewer options and the price is $811 per with a stop in Miami going out and direct coming back.

That is a big issue: far fewer flight options. The only flight itineraries that would get us to Beef Island in one day (before dark) were very expensive. At this point, it looks like we will need to do an overnight, which makes Southwest a possibility. Their schedule is only published six months out, so we'll wait.

Fewer seats too. Many airlines are blocking the middle seats. Although, I suspect that practice will end by November.

ndfaninnc,
I looked at flying out of CLT as well. It's about a 3 hour drive for us. The CLT - MIA - STT flight for out dates was $505 when I started looking a couple months ago. The same flight is $688 now. The nonstop is actually cheaper at $684 smile. Delta out of Asheville has the lowest rates I've seen for this area.

Hey Rebecca,

Maybe Instead of driving to CLT check out IAD. United has a direct flight IAD to STT for $440.

Just had to check November curiosity was gonna kill me.
United - I can get 550 basic or 593 Round trip ORD-STT. Outbound out of ORD is non stop which is nice. I will pay more for that.
American- 563.00 R/T - looks like they added a non stop on the outbound. That is new!
Neither of those prices are horrible. I usually use miles for one leg of the trip.
If I did my normal trip:
ORD- STT is 228.00
EIS to ORD - usually use miles on either AA or United ~ did not see availability for those.
Almost too early to tell but I am being hopeful!

cwoody, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, IAD is about a 6 hour drive for us, but if we found a good enough deal we'd do it!
