Wow, absolutely zero information there, as to what they are considering, as far as reopening.

Glad you got the same thing from that article that I did . I had to re-read it . Though that I missed something . So I guess I didn't .

In reading this article all I got out of it was more column filling blah, blah, blah and not much in the way of actual information. Hopefully that will come soon?

Personally speaking, I wish I had the level of confidence expressed here by some of you. June is around the corner and the airport in SXM isn’t even open yet. I’m sorry to say, having missed our scheduled April trip already this year, I’m not totally optimistic about our November plans. I hope they will happen but I will choose what I consider to be good sense in the end. Maybe we go and maybe not but I’ll keep on hoping.
Respectfully,
pat

That is what I thought and why I posted it here versus a new thread.
A friend on the island mentioned August before he thought much would be happening with regard to tourists.

They are still trying to devise a plan for the local islands never mind entrance for European & US Tourists. August seems more likely and that is being conservative! It all depends on how quickly the countries recoup from the outbreak and the US has definitely a way to go!

Wrong, Mexico is not opening June 1. Check out the Cancun/Playa forum, where the following was posted. Link

I am trying to be optimistic, but realistically I don't see many tourists being able to return to the island until sometime in 2021. Many countries have far too many cases for SXM to allow residents from these countries to enter the country. The opening of the airport is only one problem in controlling this virus; there are many more problems to be addressed before tourist travel can happen. Then there is also the threat of a second wave in the fall to compound everything. Most people do not want to be out of the country if this occurs. Keeping the residents of St. Maarten/ St Martin is a major concern and one we should all think about before planning a trip there in the near future.
