We haven't been looking at the TTOL website for a while and were just wondering the status of the airport? Has there been any significant progress on getting the airport back to pre-IRMA days? Did the virus stop and progress on the airport? Our May 5th trip was cancelled and we are now scheduled for November 28th and we were hoping that the arrival and departure would be better than last December.

We were also wondering if there has been no improvements at the airport, how do you maintain a social distance and where would the proposed virus testing take place? In December it was crowded and chaotic.

The status of the airport is CLOSED to regular traffic as of now. There have been no specific announcements as to when the airport will reopen to tourists and what the requirements will be. It is anticipated that PERHAPS an announcement will be made soon. Anything other than the above statements requires a crystal ball and mine seems somewhat cloudy these days.

Don’t know about any current plans for how the airport will handle its reopening and like you, we had our April 2020 trip cancelled as well.
But I have to say, I thought both our arrival and our departure in November 2019 were easy-peezy compared to many trips in the fully functioning airport. Well, except for the luggage claim area upon arrival, that is. But perhaps due to a midweek arrival and departure, we were both in and out fast and efficiently and we didn’t even depart with First Class flights that trip.
My biggest concern - is the island truly ready for arrivals and has the world as a whole gotten back to a semblance of normal? Then the onus of decision time for returning becomes hard. You want to go - but you want to do so safely. You don’t want to import anything and you also don’t want to bring back anything extra. Decisions, decisions.
Respectfully,
pat

Yesterday's Email from AA said our flight to SXM for July 11th arrival is cancelled. What dos that tell you?
