Hey, does anyone know what ever happen to that party boat that was on the rocks in Simpson Bay? I’m just curious, I saw a mast the same color on the harbor cam the other day and was wondering if that was it. Just asking.
As per a couple of discussions a month or so ago, it was still on the rocks and no $$ to get it removed. Someone had offered to buy it and that was rejected. Perhaps things have changed, but I doubt it.
Someone (I believe on TTOL) posted about making a token offer to buy it for scrap and to have it removed and it was rejected. When we saw the circus of them getting the boad ready during March of 2019, I figured it had disaster written all over it.
I saw that somewhere also, JD, not sure where. It was supposedly an owner of one of the houses or condos up there on the hill where the boat is, that offered to buy it and get rid of it. I reckon eventually it will just totally be torn apart by wind and waves, right where it sits. Such a shame.
Correct. It was here on TTOL from what I recall but I have not found it yet. Like I stated earlier, it was basically a $hit show the one day in March 2019 we saw them working on D Boat and hauling trash off that was blowing everywhere. I figured it was doomed at that point.
Better chance of it getting loose during a hurricane. I’d be nervous if I owned any of those condo Or buildings along Simpson Bay as it could end up on the beach in someone’s living room. It could do huge damage. It’s happened before a ship ended up on Simpson Bay Beach. The owners need to be responsible and deal with it ASAP.
That boat never had a chance. Like JD said, it had disaster written all over it. Much like the Pink Iguana.
What an eyesore though. Poor people of Beacon Hill area.
I hated seeing that stupid thing when it was docked at Dinghy Dock before they pulled it out of the lagoon. It caused lots of noise, and blocked the wind and air circulation.
"It is good to do nothing all day, and then to rest"
Thanks all, it is very sad that it’s still there. I remember talking to one of the owners (two young guys with no clue) at the dingy dock. I remember either them or the owner of the dingy dock saying that they were using there parents and grandparents money to get their business off the ground. I found that very strange.
I totally agree, just goes to show that from the very start they really didn’t have a suitable financial plan in place. One that could could handle any unforeseen consequences in the future. Poor management and planning from the very being. Very sad for the people of SXM to have to clean up their mess!
Well, Fox, I guess that's the point. The mess is still there, ruining several people's views, and more importantly, eventually going to sink/come apart, right where it sits. How many wrecks are still in the Lagoon since Irma--three years ago?? For Irma, not sure I could blame someone so much, but these people just were and are clueless and I feel sorry for the owners of the condos along Beacon Hill there.
