Well, this just seems dumb. Why not instead just issue hefty fines for people who anchor in illegal areas? Drive some revenue for the government and also solve the problem.

The charter boats can save on Rode, Chain and anchors! and even Windlasses! - they won't even have to put them on the boat
And no more calls back to base asking for more anchors because we used both of the ones that were on board already.

Great. No anchoring and no driving in the dark. What are you supposed to do if there are no balls and no time to try elsewhere? I predict rafting on moorings to become the new normal. Plus overnighting on national park moorings. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Rafting is bad enough at the best of times but with the advent of ever larger catamarans just how much are those moorings expected to hold?
