I mentioned to a few people on our recent visit why they don't fill potholes timely, it wouldn't take much work, really. I was told the government is broke. SXM has a bad policy where if a politician is elected, they would put their whole family on payroll even though they weren't working for the government. Holland is done with that. If they send any money over to SXM, it will be for an intended purpose, and if that policy is broken, they won't send any more money to SXM. Applause for Holland!
Back to the potholes, the garbage trucks could maybe take a day a month to do nothing but fill in potholes.

My friends on island (other friends) would get a bag of self leveling cement, pour it in hole with water and fix it themselves.
They did a great job! LOL

Why they didn't just leave the sand in the hole so it would pack down, I don't understand.

That sand would just be blown or erodeded away with traffic. This sends a message.
