Daily Herald story

This is so sad. I hope they are able to preserve this piece of Sint Maarten history.

If I read the article correctly, the SXM government is involved with the bank seeking to call the notes and force this auction. When has it ever been in the interest of the government to protect the legacy of this island? Sad to say, progress generally happens here for those who have a monetary interest in the changes at heart and not for those with the island itself at heart, or such is what I have witnessed all too often.

We stayed there once and dined and drank there many times. It will be sad to see the destruction/modernization of what should be yet another island landmark that will fade into oblivion.

Respectfully,

pat

Maybe!

What one should do is buy the bank then forgive the loan. Buying the Pasangrahaan may not be profitable but the bank might be.

It about $7 or $8 million which seems like a lot of money for a property in very bad condition.
