OK, thanks. DCA used to be our home airport, so never really connected through there much. Going to Hartford might be a puddle jumper, so possibly a different concourse? As BeachKitten said, it's not a huge airport, like Atlanta or Charlotte, so hopefully you should be OK.

Assuming - and you know how much trouble that can get you into - you’re booked from SXM all the way to BDL on AA you should be okay. It could be tight if there are timing issues but your bags should be shipped all the way through once you’ve cleared C & I in Miami. Good luck.......

I don't blame you for not wanting to do a 6 hour layover. If you're not flying for a while, things could change also...

The OP says the flight is in April, a lot could change between now and then. Although, my outbound AA flight for March 2021 has not changed at all since booking back in April.

DCA is a small airport - that's in your favor. American uses gates B and C. What airline to you have to connect to?
Re-reading - is your flight to Bradley on American too? If so, I would think no problem. The two concourses, B and C, are not far apart - easy walking distances. Only problem would be if your bags are not checked all the way through to Bradley.
If it's a real small jet, they might fly out of gate 35X (I think that's the number). That's actually a bus that takes you out on the tarmac. This will be replaced sometime in 2021 with a new terminal beyond the existing terminal C - the new terminal is not open yet (but appears to be substantially complete).

I'm on AA all the way thru to Hartford and bags are checked all the way also. Then baring delays, you should be fine at DCA.
