So how do my naturist friends that love Club O tolerate being a naturist up in the northern US or Canada in the winter? I live in North FL so I can afford to run my heat at 70-72 degrees in the winter.

Don't know about the North, be we had to turn on the A/C today. Rain and humidy, not that it was that hot... but the a/c was the thing to do! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

So far this winter the heat has not been turned on yet that I can remember. Hopefully it will stay that way, but they a calling for a cold front here, might only get into the 60's! tomorrow or the next day. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Now, Now !!!! We don't need to hear about those nasty temperatures! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> And that white stuff here -- oh, that is the blossoms falling off our lime tree -- need fresh limes with our drinks you understand! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, not quite fair when you're 200 miles south and 25 degrees warmer! Definitely not complaining about temps in the 50s when compared with our friends in the North though.

60 would be reason to start a fire and maybe wear long pants.

Feeling sorry for you people way up north in Florida and Texas.

We solved that problem by visiting...and then buying a condo at and becoming members at... Avalon Resort in the Eastern panhandle of WV about 40 minutes NW of Winchester Va. Avalon is a year-around resort that is really set up well for winter c/o use.

For first time visitors, staying in one of the 18 motel-style rooms in "The Lodge" puts you in a well heated connected nudist friendly facility, starting with the dining room and main bar at one end, proceeding down the corridor between the motel style rooms on either side, then down the enclosed, heated ramp to the "Nudsino" casual bar with darts, a pool table, and five slot machines on the West Virginia State Lottery network. Passing the Nudsino, you enter the aquatic center with a heated pool and two heated spas inside a greenhouse building making the most of what sun there is, and finally you come to the fitness center with a small selection of workout equipment.

We go up there at least once or twice a month all winter long...more often in the warmer and hotter months.

...and that's how WE survive winter! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Now that's a challenge. Specially when your coordinates are 43 42' N, only 23o south of the Arctic Circle. Hot tub is only 15 feet away, a mere seconds away when the temperature falls below -25C. The wallpaper on my computer shows the yellow umbrellas in front of Club O, and give off a warmth of their own. Above the monitor is a print showing the Tiko Tiko in the background and the wide sands of the beach in front of Papagayo in the foreground. The countdown calendar on the computer tells me how many days to go before I get down to SXM again. It really is quite easy.

Now what was your question?

We live in Kansas, where Saturday's high was in the 50's and today's was in the mid teens. Our local club is closed from November thru April, but members are free to visit year-around. The grounds are sheltered from wind by the tall woods that provide us privacy. We go out on the warmer days in winter to catch some sun and use the hot tub.

In the five years that we have been members, there has not been any month that I didn't spend some time naked outdoors. The cooler days, I split firewood to haul home! That's how I make it through the winter....

My wife an I are stuck in NJ for another ten years. We suck it up and dream of winters in FL. In the mean time we try to get down to Paradise Lakes a couple of times each winter and at least once a winter to Club O.
Got to go have to put the plow on theres another snow storm coming. Only five more month of cold weather!!

We don't get the time to go as much as we would like, but we live about a hour from Turtle Lake resort in Michigan. They are open year round, no matter the weather. They have a fabulous indoor pool and hot tub that are great in the winter time and they have several rooms for rent with good heat.

We just suck it up and hunker down and pray for early spring to arrive. After throwing another log in the wood stove.

Winter sucks, that's for sure, but I find hurricane season more repulsive then winter. After the winter season is over, my home is still intact, I still have my belongings and I'm still alive...There's a price to pay regardless of where one lives.

My retirement plan is to spend my winters in Florida, and when hurricane season arrives head back north.
With this plan I don't have to deal with winter or hurricane season.

Many places up north have tornadoes, so it's kind of a trade off. We live in the very center of Florida and there were some hurricanes that came through here in 2004, but in general, hurricanes are not really a big problem here. And most of the damage here in 2004 was from spin-off tornadoes from the hurricane, not from the hurricane itself. If you live on the coast, you are on the water, yes, but insurance is very difficult and expensive to get and there is always a hurricane risk, yes. But we are extremely happy that we moved to Florida, from a weather standpoint.

We are a bit north of you in Maine with -35 degrees this morning. I cut and split my own wood on our woodlot and I just work a little more to keep the temp in the house a little warmer. We keep our house at least 72 degrees because we like to be warm in the winter. We will not go out today as the vehicles may not start anyway. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> I guess to answer your question we are fair weather naturists. We will indulge when we can, but accept it when we cannot. We look at the Club O webcam and remember the times when we were there and look forward to the next time.
