We are looking at flights that get us in to SJU around midnight.
I know that some of you have stayed at the Hotel in the airport.
Is it a decent place?
We aren't looking for five star accommodations, but decent would be nice...

It is clean, nothing fancy at all, perfect for a late arrival. since none of the other hotels run a free shuttle you can add cab fare to that cost making the airport hotel better.

The signs in the airport are VERY confusing as to the location. Basically it is across from the American Airlines check in. Two entrances, one as you leave the airport and go down stairs, the other is down a hallway/ramp which is better for dragging luggage.

If you are claiming bags, you have to go upstairs.

You will be out of luck for food when you arrive. There is a place at the airport downstairs and across the "pickup lanes", but it might close at midnight.

If you are only laying your head down and then getting up and headed to paradise...does it matter? (my opinion...to each his/her own)....we are staying there in May...I read the reviews online and they truly are mixed. However, the reviews point toward booking certain floors for various reasons...I followed that advice knowing I could sleep almost anywhere for just one night for the convenience of waking up right in the airport to fly out the next day. (I already booked the room)

Defo not flashy, but if you're arriving late at night and flying out first thing, it's a no brainer. I picked up food in the airport and took it up to the room with me - free breakfast too, if I remember correctly!

No need to worry. The place is fine. Like you, we had a late arrival and the convenience of not leaving the airport was perfect. Free breakfast was not gourmet, but did the trick.
