just got notice from AA our June 4 return had equipment change and layover time from SXM to MIA. Was on a MAX 8 and now a A319. Same seats for us but if anyone else is on a MAX 8 you might want to check your seating if your equipment and flights changed too.
All of our July flights on AA got moved around the customary 10-15 minutes last week. But the really odd bit is they moved us up from row 15 to row 4 on our PVD to CLT leg and refunded some of the seat upgrade fees. As far as I can tell it’s not related to an equipment change. Not going to complain about being closer to the front that’s for sure.
I just looked at the AA sight for my return date and they are still showing the MAX 8 on the same times and not the A319. I went to my account and pulled up my reservations and it still says my original flights and not the new ones indicated on my email changes. Go figure.
So far for my June trip I have only two legs each way. I'm doing a redeye outbound, PDX - CLT - SXM. My return is also through CLT and, as of now, I'm getting back the same day and not having to do an overnight. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
I may have brought this up before, but we found the seat assignments didn't matter much on our flights in December. Although we had seats assigned beforehand, we were moved once we got on the plane for weight distribution since the flight was so empty. They didn't put us in any specific seat, but just pointed to a general area where we could sit. This could be changing now that more people are flying, though.
Our flight out of Miami in June was changed from a 737 to an Airbus, and now is almost full. I don't know if this is a result of the ship homeporting in SXM or not. So from Miami anyway, it looks like flight loads are up.
We do the redeye SEA-CLT-SXM. On the return we do SXM-MIA SEA all same day. Fingers crossed our return doesn't change and turns into an overnight stay in MIA. Going to take our test Monday afternoon for our Saturday CLT flight allowing for the 3 hour time difference. Good luck on your flight schedual.
American is definitely changing equipment and adding flights because of the cruise ships. On July 10th ( Saturday), American now has scheduled 3 direct flights from Miami.
They did that in the past. The last flight in from MIA spent the night to be the first flight out of SXM back to MIA. Took that early morning flight back to MIA on AA many times.
