OMG- if this is true- it's devastating!! There's no where to park now!! There seems to never be any thought put into the infrastructure before building permits are given.
Interesting. But if she saw it I think we would have heard about it. Will check in with her later.......
Whoops!!! Didn’t have the phone with me to take pictures!! But!! So far word on the street is the police were called, the container was removed, building has halted, but as of today, something is closed in and green coverings. Not sure what that means. I’ve been in touch with SXM pride and once someone gets me a picture I will reach out to Nature Foundation.
Just got back from 2 weeks on SXM. We went to Mullet Bay beach almost every day. We walked area every morning. Did not see any fences or anything that looks like work being done in that area. The only work going on is the 20 story building be built close to the now closed Starz casino.
I was there last week and unfortunately didn’t have phone with me. Directly behind the volleyball net in the sea grapes is where the building was being done. Definitely there. Before you get to the stack of chairs and picnic table on the far side of the beach.
Walked by there yesterday, the start of a fence or a wall and some brush clearing it appears. When we toured Mullet Fourteen were told they will have a designated space with chairs on Mullet. Could have merely been a sales pitch too.
Not really. That land that the new towers is being built on did not and does not belong to who owns the golf course and the property that the old resort sits on.
I still like the idea that was floated a couple of years back, to take the tops off of all of the mountains and build high rises, condos and business parks. I haven't heard, but maybe the Chinese are still thinking about massive development over by the Belair Hotel and Divi complex. St Maarten could become the Hong Kong of the Caribbean.
Nature Foundation, SXM Pride, We are Sint Maarten/Saint Martin and WIVoice (all Facebook groups) are working to get to the bottom of it with explanation. We have both reached out. Many rumors - restaurant, owners club for new towers but nothing concrete.

Pretty funny how much is going on right now while government buildings are closed due to COVID! I know lots of people want to see the 7 beach bar construction permits issued to the developer of the Towers, but sorry, "access is not possible". Chuckle, chuckle.....Same ole..... Watch how fast they get built!
Meanwhile, ya just gotta laugh at the French vs Dutch actions. French side continues to rule with an iron fist and not allow much of anything on the beaches (e.g., Gus's on Baie Rouge) and continues to trend towards all-natural beaches, yet Dutch side can't build fast enough - no rules or regulations that can't be gotten around! Again, same ole, same ole.......
I'm going to put this to rest right now. I spoke with a friend that is an owner on Mullet, this is what he had to say: "What I can say is that it is currently 4 stakeholders on the beach including myself and according to the current various meetings we’ve had, government’s intentions are to keep it that way"
I talked to chair attendant in front of Da Watering Hole. They are expanding and that is what's behind green tarp enclosure. Further down the beach is where a new beach bar will be.
I still think that one of the most beautiful beaches I Baie Rouge I wish the group of people who control the beach would allow at least rental of chairs. I used to walk all around the horse shoe beach it was so beautiful to look across, I always received a wonderful tan no lines
And that was part of the problem. Last time and it was years ago we were there and spoke to a home owner (we go all the time but haven’t spoken to an owner in ages). it was the full nudity that was bothersome to the owners. That’s when signs went up, got taken down. Then went up again!
