Is there a thread that would have a good recipe for rum punch? I think I've seen this discussed at some point on here and am looking for one now.
Told my husband that we could get a good recipe on here--always get great info on TTOL!
Thanks

Search for "rum punch" . There are some in the thread about premixed rum punch recipes. You could probably also find some in the Recipe Forum. Good luck trying them out!

Hi, my starting point is the classic, 1 part sour, 2 part sweet, 3 part strong and four part weak

You then experiment with flavours you like. Last summers approach was to make a lime infused simple syrup, with zest. The sour was mainly lime, strong - you choose, white or amber or both! ie a little float of amber on top
Weak - lots of choices, orange, pineapple and coconut are all classics, maybe a llittle club soda if you want - don't forget the grate of nutmeg on top
The beauty is the perfect recipe requires lots and lots of practice

Here’s a recipe for Banana Vanilla Rum I saved from a TTOL member’s post back in July, 2009. Not sure who the Original Poster was but the result is a great sample taste from the island…

“Banana Vanilla Rum...from a previous post

1.5 liter bottle of Meyer's dark rum.
2 vanilla beans
2 bananas
one empty 1.5 liter bottle (dark glass if possible)
5 cups water
1 cup sugar (or two if you have a sweet tooth)
heat water and dissolve sugar to make a sugar syrup
split rum equally between the two bottles
split sugar syrup equally between the two bottles
split banana to fit through the neck of the bottle and put one banana in each bottle
split each vanilla bean length wise and put one bean in each bottle
put the bottles on a sunny window ledge and rotate once a day...

And here's the hardest part...wait at least three weeks (longer is better)!!!!”

The great thing about Rum Punch on SXM is that you can use Agricole Rhum which is the best tasting rum. I like to add a little Myers Dark as well.

LOL, well maybe the best tasting for you! My wife and I both feel the agricoles taste too herbaceous, almost like grass (the lawn sort!). Our rum locker has over 50 bottles in it these days, both rum and rhum. The agricoles just aren't for us. C'est le vie! That is why they make lots of kinds!
