After a almond croissant comparison Zee Best is my winner, lots of almond paste, flaky and tasty. Will have a few more before vacation is over.

Spent the morning at pool Beachside Villas, St Maarten before eating lunch with friends Sandbar SXM. We love the location of Sandbar and it’s very convenient to our Villa. Simple lunch of burgers, 12” hot dog, mahi mahi burgers, all served with fries . BTW, Sushi is not available for lunch.

Took a ride to Greenhouse to reserve our prime ribs (restaurant suggests doing this)which is a weekly Thursday night special. Queen cut 10 oz or King cut 16 oz. I believe price is $26.99/$36.99? Stayed for happy hour 2 for 1 cocktails and an order of bang bang calamari.

Dinner at Driftwood. They were playing great old time disco music. Our friends got pizza which they enjoyed. David had Philly cheesesteak and I 2 appetizers: chicken satay and great bbq wings 4 of which came home with us.

Since we've just returned, you are keeping the good feelings going! We really enjoyed the Sandbar and Driftwood -- Sandbar is new but I can't believe it took me 30 years to try Driftwood. Folks always ask me why I vacation in the same place every year--my response: because we always find a "new" place to try thanks to this site! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

The Greenhouse prime rib is great. Those prices you quoted i believe are the regular menu price. Its much lower during the special.

Do you have to pay the $5 for parking beyond the Morgan gate when going to Sandbar?

It seems to me we were somehow comped the parking fee as we left after our lunch there but that could be Chesterfields I’m thinking of.

Edited to read:

We were there for lunch and definitely did not pay a parking fee.

We were there last week and didn't pay any fee to park -- we were there after 6 pm, not sure if that matters.

Did they have to open the gate arm for you?

No. They give you a ticket which Sandbar validates and when you leave you hand to security guard. After 6 pm guard lifts the gate and no ticket validation is required.

Thanks! That’s good info. We alllmmmost went last night, but our lunches have been large so we’ve eaten at home 3 evenings in a row! Lol
