Not sure which, but I'm still having iPad/ internet issues so I'm going to do this in increments.

Saturday we woke up early and had coffee on our deck but had already planned to have breakfast at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club and hopefully catch a bridge opening. Success on both scores but sadly, no huge yachts this morning. We were late for the first opening and early for the second one so we spent some time chatting with Monique, the Simpson Beach morning runner formerly of Karakter and now an institution at The SMYC. We knew she'd been there for a while but were surprised to learn that Louisa, also once employed at Karakter, was now working with her at the yacht club.

Boat watching and wishing done, we headed off to Mary's Boon for another day on their beach. We've really come to like this location over Karakter but that's just us. It's quieter and far more laid back but it suits us well. Around 1:30 we had lunch and returned to the beach. It was about this time I realized my feet and shins were getting a little sunburned and I couldn't believe I'd allowed this to happen. I certainly know better and I think it's the first time I've ever gotten a burn like this. After reapplying lotion and still hurting, we decided to call our beach day done and head home since we dinner plans for Skipjacks with a very good friend.

We arrived at Skipjacks and had a very pleasant evening, and once again, we hit that magic number for dinner - $100.00 for two of us with apps, entrees, (I finally got to have their Parmesian crusted grouper which I love) and after dinner drinks. It was a lovely evening spent in a nice location looking out on the beautiful lighted yachts in the bay, with a good friend and enjoying a very good meal. Could it get any better....?

Well actually it could have gotten a little better if the sunburn would let up since by the time we got home the sunburn had reached miserable proportions and I turned into a WW. Thank heavens DH is such a patient saint.

We awoke this morning and if anything the burn has intensified so we did nothing, nada, zip today. I couldn't even tolerate sitting on the balcony while the maid came in to clean our unit today so we basically spent our day relaxing and recovering from all our previous relaxing. The maid was so sweet. When she found out why we were in the room she had her husband bring up an extra set of chair pads for the chaise on the porch thinking I might be more comfortable. They really are like caring family....

And there you have it - breakfast, lunch and dinner in and the most exhausting thing I've done all day was write the first version of the Carnival first days report. That would be the one that disappeared right before this one.

So soon to bed with good hopes for a better day tomorrow and a special thank you to my DH for being such a good sport today and putting up with all my whining!! He really is the BEST!!

Respectfully,

pat
