Just a little update for the last few days.....

We've tried a few favorite restaurants and a few new ones. Pineapple Petes & Big Cees for dinner, Lagoonies for lunch, and Reveil Matin for breakfast today. You guys were really telling the truth about Reveil... it was amazing for breakfast this morning. The only big disappointment was Big Cees (Did this used to be called Three Cees? If so... they lost a couple lol) .... we really caught them on an off night. The root of the problem is when I went in the afternoon asking if they had reservations for 7:30.... the answer should have been a resounding NO..... We showed up at 7:30, no one was expecting us, no tables... two huge birthday parties (I'd say almost 30 at one about 15 at the other outside). They drug some chairs outside at an empty table for us.... Food was marginal at best, except for the guacamole... and the serving size was about a tablespoon (one of the small ketchup containers you get at most restaurants) for a big plate of chips. Service.... they were just so overworked.... 45 minutes to bring 3 glasses of Rose and a Gin & Tonic... 1.5 more hours for main course. Takeaway.... if you go on a weekend and there are large birthday celebrations there (which looks to be a lot if you look at Facebook posts).. go elsewhere. The table beside us left before they got their food. I was disappointed because I have a list of other places I'd love to try in the area, which I would definitely have done had I known. All our other meals have been from "very good" to "wonderful" as usual.

Today we headed to the airport for COVID testing about 15 minutes early (They start at 11... we arrived about 10:45). There was a gentleman working the window already checking people in.... And one girl doing the testing in the back. It was surprisingly efficient with just the two of them....though the man kept calling trying to get more people to help. The whole process took us about 40 minutes, but it was only because the workers were so very competent.... I really have to give them a lot of credit - not sure management did any planning for the obvious influx of people needing tests today for the new US requirements hitting tomorrow. So we have our negative COVID tests and approval for Statia.

I'd also like to add that Lesley from Kenny's Car Rentals met us at the airport and has gone above and beyond to help us with crazy flight schedules and such. We have had a wonderful experience (first time using him) and would highly recommend!

We are heading to St. Eustatius for a week and at this point are still planning to head to our Villa near Grand Case on the 13th, though we are still monitoring the situation on the French side.

Got a lovely pic of Saba a few nights ago, Christmas Decorations at Mary's Boon, Pelican at dusk, and my breakfast today at our first (though definitely not our last) trip to Reveil Matin!

I am not familiar with Big C's. Where is it located?

Beautiful location.... Porto Cupecoy, right on the water.

So sorry your experience at Three Cs was wasn’t a great one. We ate dinner there last last month and every aspect of our dinner was lovely - food, service and the setting was perfect. But no big parties going on - thankfully.
We use Lesley Bruce too and have for years. Agree he is the BEST!
Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us and enjoy the rest of the young stay.

Respectfully,

pat

Is C's located downstairs waterfront? Has anyone moved in where Mario's was?

Yes, C's is downstairs. As of October, there was nothing where Mario's was.

Reveil Matin is in Simpson Bay, right next to what used to be Scotia Bank. I think it's a different bank now. It's the same side of street and very close to Pizza Italy.

We were there the same night - Big Cee’s. Had an amazing seafood dip appetizer. And I had Mahi mahi and my friend had a white fish. It was super busy with two parties going on. But the wait staff was very apologetic but still attentive. They are new and working extremely hard. I would
Give them a second chance.

KGB--we do not go out to breakfast at home, ever, and on SXM, we MAY go out to breakfast once in 10 or 11 days, and Reveil Matin would be my choice EVERY time. The only exception would be if we were to go twice, during dead high season when there are lots of yachts in, I would go to the Yacht Club once, to see some yachts. And they do serve lunch also, so if someone is in the mood for brunch, it would be a very good choice. And do try their fruit salad, which is amazing!
