Can’t figure out why BVI would jump from level 1 to 4. Crazy!

I am here now and seems pretty calm…and safe…

We left the BVI today after a glorious 17 day stay. It felt a heck of a lot safer than back here in the US. Wish I could have stayed.

Will this change travel from the US next week?

Not that there is a bright side to all this... but the US has themselves at level 4 also....

It's usually 1 of 2 reasons. Lack of reporting or increase in active cases. When Omicron arrived a few weeks ago, our active case number jumped from a steady 50-60 to over 1400. Not a big number for a US city, but in a place with 7 ventilators it's significant.

Numbers are coming back down; below 1000 again and declining everyday. Unfortunately, the CDC is very slow to update their ratings so expect a level 4 for at least a month.

The numbers are declining here as well. Down from 1387 to 899 in the last week.

Yes, you can definitely watch the after Holiday spike and the almost as rapid decline and the number of hospitalizations was a very small percentage although it too doubled. The uses CDC uses percentages of growth and looks back 2 - 4 weeks so the hospitalized going from 9 to 16 and active cases going from 600 to 1400 in a week looks huge but has already gone back to half of those numbers.

Jason, where can one track those numbers? Very good news that they are declining.

I've only ever seen them on FB. Ian Clark usually posts them first. Followed sometimes by the Government of the Virgin Islands page. 861 active cases as of yesterday.

Down to 708 now but 11 new hospitalizations.

Was just going to post this: 17 hospitalizations now, so 13 more.

However, the airport has expanded their hours again.
