Hello everyone. I would like to know about the parking at Bamboo House. Is it close to the restaurant? Are there steps to get up to the restaurant itself? I'm a little handicapped.
THanks,
Barbara

For you , just take the Shuttle from next to Carrefour SuperMarket that takes you to right in front of the entrance to the Restaurant. Enjoy .

I think you mean Bamboo House? I changed the title of the thread.

Park your car close to the ATM at the entrance to the Carrefour parking lot, it's on the left. The shuttle parks right by the ATM.

I agree about the shuttle. However, there are also stairs once you get there. Two or three up at the entrance, and again two or three down to the restaurant. No railings on the "down" stairs.

Thank you for the info re the steps/stairs/handrails. They all make a huge difference to many of us as does handicap parking and accessibility to restaurants that offer it. 🙂🙂

Respectfully,

pat

Thank you so much. Railings are becoming a "must."

Oh, Pat. How I sometimes wish I were 30 years younger! Then I realize I've been blessed to be here. Although I must say it's more difficult without my love. But I shall trudge on. Just maybe without the steps if I can help it!! have a great day.

Good way to do it. I'll valet park when it's convenient. $10 is a drop in the bucket when you're spending a bunch on dinner. And so much more convenient.

I've never been on the shuttle when the driver backed down the road. I wonder why that happened to you?

The shuttle driver backed down the drive when we were there last month.....in the dark with no backup camera and at breakneck speed. I was too amazed to be scared.

CaribLee--Sounds terrifying to me. And now i will be worried about that. Is there no place to turn around?

Yes, it was very surprising and like another poster stated, I was too shocked to
be afraid!

He was good, but I wouldn't want to do it again!

Carol.....the drive up to the restaurant is only wide enough for one vehicle and the drop off area is very small. So it is difficult for a shuttle van to turn around. The shuttle backing down the drive was actually part of the "experience". He seemed to know what he is doing.

CaribLee--definitely sounds like a reason not to try to drive up there yourself. Whole thing sounds kind of scary to me.

The two times I've been there, the van has been able to turn around right in front of the entrance. I have not experienced the backward driving.

When we were on the island in February, we enjoyed the experience at Bamboo House so much we returned there a second time a week later. I still cannot say for sure what was best--the ambiance of the new location, the food and service, or the ride backwards down the hill!

I strongly advise any newcomer to take the shuttle if you are inexperienced traversing steep hills--even if you might not get to experience the exit in reverse. As mentioned, the road is quite narrow and it was a bit frightening going up the hill for some of our party--even just as passengers.

Bamboo is a must visit!

IMHO, the shuttle was seamless and the driver couldn't have been nicer and no speeding!!! And NO, he drove head first up and back down! Yes, Pat, a hand railing would be very helpful ! I to have problems doing stairs down hill!!! BTW, a nice tip went a long way guys!!

We called ahead, let them know we were coming for our reservation. The van was right there. The driver was so friendly, drove carefully, I gave a tip and he couldn't have been nicer!! There's a lot on that menu!! I thought for what we had, the prices were more than reasonable!!! The drinks at the bar were delicious!!
