Unfortunate that it didnโt work out for the current owners, seems like they got into some enormous debt far more than what itโs worth. It will take another fortune and hard work to get it back into something nice again. Not so sure tourists really want that location. Heard rumors about who might get it. Time will tell.

Sad; one of my favorite places for architecture (before they added on).

We stayed there in town once and thoroughly enjoyed it but we didnโt get to enjoy the original hotel as it was totally booked when we were there and we were housed in the addition. It gave us great access to all of Front Street and the Boardwalk but four nights was enough to accomplish our in town needs and then we moved on to our intended destination.
One thing I laughingly recall was how high the bed was and it seemed even higher to me at all of five feet tall. I mentioned it to the maid she very kindly got me a small stepping stool to get into bed. ๐๐ even when not staying there as guests we always enjoyed our meals there.

Pat, when you said bed height I laughed so hard I couldn't see to type. We had the same problem at Belhurst Castel in NY. They gave us a 2 step stool and before sleep I told hubby I was moving it to the foot of the bead so we both had access.Next morning he swung out of bed on his side and fell to the floor. Unhurt fortunately; only his pride because I couldn't stop laughing.

I can picture it. Iโm sure Don was not amused and particularly at your laughter!
I also have issues with this at BSV but after a few attempts at bettering the situation.on my first trip, I tried standing on all the extra pillows but they were too slippery. Next day they got me a footstool which was a little tippy. We finally ended up asking for a concrete block wrapped in a beach towel. Works like a charm and now they just automatically have it there upon our arrival. They are so very accommodating.๐๐

When in SXM prior to Irma, we went there every Sunday after church. It had wonderful Bohemian pancakes. Never seen them anywhere else in the world though never went to Bohemia. A cross between a crepe and an American pancake. I sorely miss them.
