We have just booked an Alaska cruise on this ship. Anyone here with experience on Regent Seven Seas, or other helpful information?

It is a great ship with no expense spared in the decor and artwork. All suites. We enjoyed the smaller passenger load and great service.
Almost everything included versus the nickel/dime Royal Caribbean, Princess and the like but you pay far above as well.
Great for a special occasion cruise.

Thanks! Can you give me an idea of the atmosphere? Casual, jeans and sweater for dinner, or do I need something dressier?

They try to keep the mood elegant to coincide with the fares being paid. We didn’t see any jeans or shorts for dinner or in the lounges. The most casual we saw were slacks for men and collared shirt. Many in sports coat on non formal night. Ladies pants suits to non-formal dresses. Formal night is just that with Tuxedo’s/suits and formal dresses short and long. We like having formals nights but also prefer ability to dress down in the dining room.

Thank you. There is no formal night on our cruise, so we're safe from that. I did see the dress code posted on their website, and it states that casual wear isn't appropriate for dinner. We're hoping to travel carry-on only; having to have two wardrobes will make that more difficult.

TJ, can you give me any insight into the specialty restaurants on the ship. We haven't cruised a lot, and have never had the specialty restaurant options.

I would describe Regent’s main dining room like other cruise line main dining rooms (MDRs) were 20 years ago. Excellent. Today, other lines have cut corners to get you to pay extra for the specialty venues. This is particularly true when it comes to beef quality. Seven Seas Compass Rose MDR is very good and if we had to pay for specialty we would be fine with main dining room. But since it’s included, you may as well indulge in the steakhouse, Italian and Asian specialty restaurants. You can also get room service.

We have always been happy with cruise food. But it is obvious it was way better years ago. You can always have an up/down day from the waitstaff but RSSE was above average. If you don’t like your dinner in the specialty restaurant you can always get a second dinner in the MDR. smile

Thank you so much for that information! We're not big beef eaters, so the steakhouse isn't a draw for us; the Italian, and especially the Asian, do have appeal! And room service for that night when I just feel like wearing my PJs at dinner smile

Hi. We just booked an Alaskan cruise departing in June. Curious if you’ve taken your cruise yet and how the dress code was. We're also were trying to take only carryon luggage. Thanks!
