Huh. Interesting article. We visited Botswana several years ago on a photo safari and loved it. I loathe trophy hunting of ANY animal, but I do somewhat understand the locals' position.

He may have a point to redistribute Botswana’s wealth. It seems gruesome especially to conquer the animal or to pose. Only justifications, as with all animal hunting, would be genuine need for food or safety.

I agree that the only justification for animal hunting is for food. Safety is another issue. Elephants can do damage, yes, but I don't buy that justification to kill them.
