Can anyone recommend a nice reasonable hotel in downtown Toronto? The prices post Covid seem pretty high.

Yes, indeed the rates jumped.

When u search individual hotel chains, search AAA membership or select senior's rate, if applicable. Sometimes their "best rate" is a fallacy. Your credit card concierge may assist you as well.

Also, some cities have addon taxes (more...why not??? /s) based on head count. I'm not sure about T.O. though. So... input 1 guest and let me know.

Parking is insane but public transport has always been available.

Prices do not include taxes.

Yes. Hotel prices everywhere have increased substantially in most major cities and large tourist areas post-Covid, including Toronto. You can do a search with a site like Expedia or Hotels.com and sort by cheapest in the downtown area. You can then at least identify ones inside your price range. Then go to the actual hotel website and check for special rates, as suggested by @CrazyCanuxx above.

Try visiting during shoulder season, rather than peak season and avoid major events, whether major holidays, sporting, entertainment, or major conferences. But finding the deal in the haystack will require some effort, unfortunately.

One piece of good news is that if the sight is quoting you in CAD dollars, you get an immediate deal. With the Canadian dollar so low right now against the US dollar, $100 CAD translates to only about $70 USD! Good luck.

Maybe when they get statehood prices will come down.

Thanks for the tips'! I'll definitely check for senior rates or AAA membership discounts, and I’ll keep an eye out for those hidden taxes. I'll also make sure to check the public transport options instead of worrying about parking.
