Based on your experiences, what would be the most economical and reliable way to get from the airport to Fair Winds in Red Hook? We'll be arriving a day early for our charter so that we can provision. Still looking for a place to stay that first night, too. (june 10) Any advice?

a taxi is your only way unless you rent a car which might be better if you want to provision as well.

Oh, I was thinking that the ferry might stop there, too. I'm going to look into rentals. Thanks!

I don't think there is a CA - Red Hook ferry and what a pain compared to a rental or taxi. Most rental companies will meet your right at the airport and take you to the office to do the paperwork

Lots of choices to stay in CA, not so many in RH. Rent a car to save multiple cab fares. We have had good luck with Budget at the airport for rentals but others here will chime in with other favorites.

Where is Fair Winds? If you are going to provision, you'll need a car. Did I miss how many people you are looking to house?

Ah, it's a sailing school? I thought you were looking for a hotel.. LOL. One night on the east end will be tough, but you can check the Sapphire properties, Ritz, Elysian, Secret Harbour Beach, Secret Harbour Villas, Paradise Cove...I'm sure I left something off. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

They do have a sailing school but also a charter fleet. We are chartering from them for 10 days but not taking their sailing classes. We are looking for a hotel for the night before so we can be ready to hit the water the next day and not have to do a sleep aboard. I think we have narrowed down to a couple of places for the night. Thank you for the help!
