Just crossed into Mexico for my annual trip and noted a few changes for 2026:

• Mexico's FMM (tourist card) is now fully digital at major airports — no more paper form on the plane. You still need to keep the digital receipt for departure.
• Immigration officers are increasingly asking for proof of accommodation AND onward travel, especially if you're from a country that doesn't need a visa. Having a flight itinerary printed helps.
• The maximum tourist stay is still 180 days, but officers have discretion — they may stamp fewer days if you can't show a solid exit plan.

Excellent breakdown, Kasia! I flew into Cancun in January and the digital FMM caught me off guard — nobody handed out paper forms on the plane anymore. The immigration officer asked where I was staying and when I was leaving. Having printouts ready made it a 2-minute conversation. Definitely recommend showing proof of onward travel even if you're from a visa-exempt country.
